Perfect Blend for me
I love the even, steady energy I get when I use Hammer Perpetuem. I am training to walk a marathon, so my workouts are long... I have felt really balanced since I started using Perpetuem on my walks. I am not getting energy lows and spikes; don't ever feel hungry; no bloating or digestive rumblings. It has also lessened side effects like puffy fingers.
Personally, I really like the Cafe Latte flavor. I find it helpful to mix it up well in advance in a large pitcher. It needs a lot of stirring otherwise it will have chewy lumps! Once it is mixed it does not fall out of solution, but does not keep for more than a couple days.
This stuff is my go to for long rides, goes down easy on my sensitive stomach. The taste is very mild so it makes drinking easy, I feel well hydrated and energized when I'm drinking it on rides. There is guidance for how to mix based on your body weight and how many hours you are planning on exercising which is super helpful when you are using it for the first few times. Only down side is when you get a large bin of it it can be messy to package into smaller portions for refills on long rides, but that can be said about any powered drink.
The Ultimate Endurance Fuel
This is the ultimate fuel for anything over 4 hours. It burns slow and clean with amazingly consistent energy output. I like to mix up a 4 - 8 hour bottle and supplement fluids from a hydration bladder or another bottle and lytes in capsule form. As long as I stay hydrated and avoid an overly concentrated mix, stomach issues have been nil. I have been using Perpetuem for about 7 years and love it!
It's like liquid food
I do a lot of century rides and this is my drink of choice for those and long training rides of about three hours. I used the orange vanilla flavor but had to add a sweetener. They now offer strawberry vanilla (new for 2011) and I've tried that without a sweetener and it's pretty good. Per the people at Hammer, 2 scoops per 24 oz is the ideal isotonic mix for quick absorption.
Good for sustained energy on long rides.
Great portable nutrition for long rides/runs. Easier to get down than bars and includes protein as an energy source. Easy to customize the concentration to meet the specific needs of your workout/ride.
I've heard complaints about taste but I like the creamsicle flavor. It will start to sour if exposed to heat for a while and can become unpalatable, but that's expected from a substance with no preservatives.
great quality product.ITS WORKS!!!!!!!!!
I been using Hammer products for 15 yrs & glad to see REI start selling some of them. You can't go wrong as they are all fine quality products.
Also I would like to see REI have Sustained Energy, the sports drink between Heed & Perpetuem that works well.ONE more thing, you can mix & match them.EX:hammer gel with Perpetuem
Great Endurance Fuel
I've been using Hammer products for about a year. Perpetuem has worked great for long rides. I generally use Heed for the first 2 hours for each hour after, one serving of Perpetuem and one gel. The combination has worked great. No bonk, not bloated, lots of slow stable energy.
This is the real deal. Tastes good too.
Hammer has no Fructose, so far the best stuff I've found to drink on long rides. Doesn't feel heavy, in fact it's hard to conserve it, I just want to drink it all down!.
The Dreamsicle flavor is subtle and I like it. There's also an unflavored version.
This product works great...
I use this product for a pre-workout energy drink for bicycling and weight training. It gives me the pre-carb load for the muscles to make it through a 60-90 min. ride, or through a 60-90 min. intense weight bearing workout at the gym.
Seems to work
Easy on the belly. Gluten free. Seems to keep me going on long rides and prevent lactic acid build up?
