I think a bike hoister is the best idea to get your bikes out of the way in the garage or even the basement. This vertical lift allows one spot, up high, to be designated for the bike with plenty of room underneath on ground level to slip in a car or other storage. A must have for a single or multiple bike owner such as myself.
