Accurate and rugged atimeter

I needed an accurate/budget priced barometer to measure local absolute barometric pressures to help me optimise tire pressure settings as I drive at different altitudes and ambient temperature conditions. Comparing several days of barometer readings from the device to the "sea level" readings from a nearby NOAA weather station give me confidence that the device is very accurate and consistant. Before using it as an altimeter it is very important to understand the difference between "absolute" and "sea level" barometric pressures and how they relate to altitude. The only improvement I would suggest is to make the back light a little brighter.

Accuracy with quality.

My main reason for buying was for the barometer/altimeter function and, after comparing it to our local airport data and known altitudes in the region over several weeks, I am very pleased with the performance. It is important to understand "absolute barometric" vs "sealevel" pressure. The other features, time/date, and compass also work very well. The backlight could be a little brighter and stay on for a few seconds longer but in very dark conditions it is adequate.

Over the course of several days I was able to calibrate the device using our local airport's broadcast of "altimeter" and very accurately and consistantly compare its altitude estimate to my known altitude. This confirmed to me that the device really works, and works well. I advise any prospective user to understand the difference between "absolute" and "sealevel" barometric pressure to understand how to calibrate the device.

Needs to be accurate

Icons don't work well and the digital direction function needs consent calabration.
