Poor construction, not for heavy use | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| We used this bag as one of three checked bags going to Europe this September and when we arrived there I noticed a tear on the seam near the handles. It was obviously not well-constructed as the weight of the bag was about 40lbs when we had it checked and weighed by the airline. We had one stop on our way over so the bag was handled three times, once at our departure city, once at our layover, and once at our arrival city. Additionally, we noticed by the time we got home that the pop-up handle was damaged, having been bent and dented in one place so that it no longer easily retracts and extends. The metal it is made of is so light-weight as to offer no protection from the rough and tumble treatment of international travel. I am checking with REI to see about a return since the item now has a 4inch tear in the outer nylon where one handle meets a seam on the top of the bag and this comes after only one trip with the bag. I would not use this bag for any extensive traveling, maybe just a weekend bag that you'll be putting in the trunk of a car and not carrying by the handles or otherwise subject it to normal wear and tear. | |
