Beats using poison's, pumps, and goin' Rambo

Rating:*****
No wait for the chem's to be ready then pick the ant's out of the little cup before you dump it in and wait for it to work. No filter to freeze or clean or crack. No reason not to use it, it's fast and easy and it looks really cool after dark.(Jimmy Hendrix fans eat your heart out) I do recommend Lithium batteries for a week or more but rechargers are fine for a few days. This thing is the bomb. Oh yea Rambo he's really tough but not a good dancer so I don't think the trots is such a good thing.

EASE OF MIND...

Rating:*****
I bought this thing and it works really well. The directions are easy to follow. The only down side is that it requires clear water to be really effective. Murky water won't allow the light to penetrate through all the water. But after filtering the water with a filter I use this every time to reassure me that my water is good to drink. I wouldn't be as confident or comfortable with my water without it. And it doesn't leave a weird taste like chemical treatments.

Sterilizes the water, I think...

Rating:****
I have used this pen for about one week already in streams and small ponds along with the pre-filter. I think it works like it suppose to, since I never have was sick from drinking the water. The pen is fairly easy to use, with safety instructions for keeping you from coming into contact with the harmful UV rays. Now, I just need to know how to sterilize the mouth of my bottle, that I use to scoop the dirty water and take sips from...

You gotta have one!

Rating:*****
This is an essential for backpacking! No more having to worry about filters plugging up, wasting fuel to boil water, and tasting the iodine to have clean water. Its an easy to use product, even little kids can do it, and it gives them something to do. Your watter will be 99.9% clean (and thats pretty amazing when you are in the back country). Over all this is a great product to have. And its light weight too!

Worth It

Rating:****
Lightweight, easy to use, effective...what more do you want? The steripen has made my water filter obsolete.

Useful when you can't filter

Rating:***
If you go out in the winter you probably know that filters don't work so well when they're frozen, and boiling water requires lots of fuel. A quick zap with this and your problem is solved. It's nice not having to wait for MIOX to do its magic. I usually carry a little funnel with a filter screen and use my cooking pot to pour "unclean" water into the funnel. The funnel helps keep the unsterilized water from getting all over the rim of the bottle and the screen takes out any crunchy bits in the water. The cooking pot gets sterilized the next time it gets heated up.
