They work

Our area is famous for all sorts of bugs, deer ticks included. So far, I have yet to experience one bite or attached tick. The product seems to work as advertised, but I cannot predict the effectiveness after many washings. I do not like the fairly hard but small logo sewn into the socks, especially since they are not matched as a pair, e.g. one will be outboard, while the other will be inboard always. In sum, a great buy if they were just ordinary socks, but the insect repellent feature makes them special.

Comfy socks repel bugs w/o irritation

I hesitated to buy because I am allergic to pyrethrum. Company said they never had anyone react to the socks. The chemical in these socks is similar but not identical to phyrethrum. I tried them, walked in them all day 2 separate days [one day in weedy fields] and no skin reaction from me and no ticks or chiggers. Very relieved that they work & I don't have to wear more high-powered repellent when doing field work. Not great:Must wash separate from other clothing, no reason given why.

Insect Shield socks & diabetics

My husband and I are going on a long awaited African safari within the malaria high risk zone. We needed as much protection as we could possibly get. Since he is a diabetic, we had the additional concerns of both malaria and an infection in his lower extremities. I bought him the socks and the pants and he feels much more comfortable about the trip. Now if we can just find something for me. It's much harder to find women's attire with bug shield properties that actually fit.

Great Dog Walking Socks

Was hesitant as only huge size left and I am a ladies size 7. But the heel is not sharply defined and they make great knee sox! Plus I checked other sites hoping for my size - no luck, and when I saw the usual price of these,I figured I'd better grab STP's before they were gone! I walk the dog through tall grass, etc. The ticks are terrible this year & these socks give me some peace of mind

Works

If there is one mosquito in the county, it will find me and bite. So I was happy to try these socks and happy to say they work. I was on a three-day camping trip recently and did not get a single bite on my feet or ankles -- this without spraying repellent on them. It was warm and I was sorry to be wearing socks, but preferred that to spraying and certainly preferred that to getting bitten.

Frontline for humans

My wife "Frontlines" our dogs, now she can "frontline" me!

Our a house is in the area with the highest incidence of Lyme disease in the USA and the dogs and I have had all Lyme disease more than once.

Anything to minimize the possibility of a repeat episode of tick borne disease is welcome...are these socks available in dog sizes? :)

Take that, mosquitoes!

I work outdoors and spend a great deal of time in mosquito-infested space. These socks are a major miracle to me; as another reviewer said, the mosquitoes literally veer away from these socks and the insect-proof shirt I also bought. In addition, they're very comfortable, soft and well-fitting, and I like the nice nutty brown color. They'll be great for fishing, too!

excellent value and they really work!

A mosquito bite puts me in the hospital with a month long course of prednesone. I need a product that really keeps mosquitos at bay. Knock on wood I haven't had a mosquito bite yet wearing these socks! And I've been in my garden more this year than any in recent history! Thank you for a great product!

very helpful

I gave these to my husband so he would stop spraying DEET all over his ankles every day. They do seem to work and the elastic holds them up at least so far.
I bought four in white and four in black and may buy more.

Good socks

I love the idea of these socks-protection from ankle-biting mosquitos. I tested them under mild mosquito conditions and I didn't get any bites, but it's early in the season yet. The socks were warm and comfortable, I look forward to using them for camping again.

Negative Reviews:

Not worth the $$

After the second time wearing a pair of these socks to work, the heals and toes were becoming threadbare. Not worth the money if they can't last longer than two days.

Neutral Reviews:

Runs large

Sock foot twists inside footgear because of oversize. Large too big for size 10 shoe.
