Sometimes we don't want astronaut food

Rating:****
Once I started running marathons, I learnt that you MUST eat on the run. I wasn't a big fan of energy gels (until I found one I really like, I'll save that for another review), and energy bars can be unappetizing when you're hot, sweaty, and dry.

And then I discovered sport beans! A familiar food, you don't feel like you're on the space shuttle sucking sustenance out of a package. These are jelly beans! And great tasting ones at that, but what do you expect from Jelly Belly? Well, perhaps not sport nutrition! Compared to energy gels, Sport Beans are, on average, slightly higher in electrolytes for the same number of calories.

Sport Beans Are Not Goo-ey

Rating:****
These easy-to-handle little beans will NOT get sticky goo on your fingers! Tasty. Small package for shirt back pocket. Very decent price. Help replace what you've lost in sweat, to keep you going longer. The only small drawback I see is that I feel like I need to brush my teeth afterward, like I've just eaten sugary candy. But a few swallows of liquid remedy that, and I'm off to climb another hill.

Great snack while trekking

Rating:*****
My husband and I tried these for the first time this summer and we love them! We used them while backpacking over 200 miles. They're especially useful when you need that extra boost in the afternoon or before a steep climb. They were strong tasting (like eating Kool-aid powder as a kid). Based on nutritional content, two packs of jellybeans equals one bag of shot blox, but Jelly Beans are more flavorful.

Perfect portions

Rating:*****
A running buddy introduced me to these when I was training for my first marathon and I've been addicted ever since. These taste just like normal jelly beans but extra salty so they're very satisfying in the middle of a race or strenuous hike. They are easy to handle and share. Perfect option for those of us who don't enjoy gooey products. Fruit punch flavor is the best!

Great source of energy

Rating:*****
I am a runner and I eat these before a run. They give me the boost I need, and they go down easy when on the move. I think that lemon-lime flavor is the best. Great to use when skiing or snowboarding. They are a great snack for when you're on the chairlift and give you a boost on the way down. I Love Sports Beans!

Love 'em!

Rating:****
Really love these during long runs. I don't have to eat the whole package-prefer just a couple for any extra boost. Can share with friends if needed. Only problem with product: can be hard to open, especially when sweaty! I've torn them the wrong way and couldn't get the darn package open! Very frustrating!

Great change of pace

Rating:*****
I did a series of hikes in NH's White Mtns. recently and I mixed these into a 32 oz. Nalgene bottle with a mixture of gorp and trail mix and it provided an alternative to the usual stuff you consume on the trail. It worked great for me.

Great For Running

Rating:*****
These are a great alternative to gels. Bars are hard to consume on the run, and these go down well with water. Easy to keep a few handy...great for marathoners.

Good Stuff!

Rating:*****
Used these for a backpacking trip to keep my electrolytes up during the hike. Really liked the taste and felt a little boost from the carbs and vitamins.

nice alternative

Rating:****
If you're tired of swallowing musky gels or half-melted nutri-bar, this would be a great alternative.
You should try it.
