K2 Clutch Helmet

Snowboarding > HelmetsRated: ***** by 12 reviews. Also available for: Men & Women

Berg's Ski Shop

Style meets value in the Clutch. Built with a hard-shell construction and passive ventilation, this durable yet affordable helmet has a unique style for skiers and riders who demand the right look for the right price.
We're not sure if Clutch abandoned a touring band of bikers or if he drifted in from the local skate park. Regardless of influence, Clutch has a style all his own and a lean toughness that has been sought after (but rarely found) on the hill.

The K2 Clutch Helmet has an adjustable retention system which truly helps snug the helmet up to a customizable fit. An integrated system allows goggle straps to clip to the side of the helmet making it an ease to line up your goggles to fit visually appealing. As an added bonus K2 has included the baseline audio kit with all these helmets so bring your tunes with you on the slopes. The K2 Clutch Helmet is a basic good looking lid at an absolutely un-touchable price.

The K2 Clutch Helmet has a low-pro, all-business style, backed up with serious impact protection. With its exposed rivets and matte finish, this EPS lid stays about as far from the geriatric groomer-cruiser look as you do from the groomers. Passive venting keeps you cool on the down, and the Clutch’s tough exterior hard shell remains unaffected whether it’s smacking branches, rattling around the bed of your pickup, or swinging off your pack on a ridgeline hike.

If you like to pop the clutch on the mountain and charge hard, care for your cranium with the K2 Men’s Clutch Helmet. New for ’09 K2 used a hard shell construction to make the helmet even lighter. A washable head liner keeps the funk to a minimum, and ear liners with audio pockets make sure you can’t hear ski patrol yelling at you for cutting the rope.

GREAT helmet

Rating:*****

This was my first and still is my only helmet. The fit is great and I really like the ratcheting feature in the back, as it allows me to easily adjust the fit after putting on or taking off a hat, etc. Unlike other users I have not found it to be a discomfort - perhaps they were tightening the ratchet too much. I thought I'd hate wearing helmets but after I got this one I've never thought twice about not wearing one again. It's been over three years now and I've had no issues! I also like the plain and straightforward style - harder to find than you'd think!

Good Helmet

Rating:****

Good helmet, nice fit, dial in the back is a little flimsy but works and gives you a nice perfect fit. Keep in mind that the front brim is not very flat in profile, so you won't get that perfect goggle fit if your goggles have a large top radius.

Clutch performer

Rating:****

Comfortable, warm fit. Not too hot, even for a 500 m boot pack. Heavier than other helmets according to the specs but weight wasn't very noticeable in action. Heavy-duty construction provides a secure feel. Rudimentary stylings fit what this helmet is: business-like.

Solid Helmet for Child

Rating:*****

This is a great fit for the little skiers. My son has not complained about the fit at all in 4 full days of skiing so far. It is not too heavy and provides a good fit with goggles.

Warm helmet with good protection

Rating:*****

Took this helmet out for its maiden voyage at Snowbird. Very warm and comfortable. I took a bad spill, bouncing off my head twice. My neck hurts, but my head feels great. I highly recommend this helmet.

This is a great helmet. Nothing flashy. Low profile. Fit my Oakley goggles fine. I even replaced the ear pads with some audio ear pad inserts. I highly recommend.

Got 2 (husband and wife) and both fit great. After a few minutes of use you don't even realize you have them on.

Negative Reviews:

poor fit, uncomfotable

Rating:**

i got this helmet yesterday and while it looks nice, it is neither comfortable nor practical. the discomfort comes from the plastic tightening ratchet in the back. it is made of plastic with sharp edges. the middle is padded but not the sharp edges?!? so it digs into the back of your head/neck. seriously uncomfortable. then the front of the helmet comes down so far it makes it impossible to get a good fit with any goggles. i tried to pair of goggles and both were smashed down into my nose as a result of the helmet coming down too low. i had heard this was a problem from the previous review but unless i went out and bought new goggles (which i dont want to or should need to) this helmet will not work. i will be returning it tomorrow. i'm not a complainer but i strait up would not recommend this helmet even if it is only $33. not worth it.
