Best Shoes for 14 month old
My Son is 14 months old. His foot measures a 4.5. The size 4 (toddler) fit him well, but was quite difficult to get his foot into. So we bought a size 5. I'm a little leery of this large size for my guy (there's a thumb's width of free space between the toe and the top of the shoe) but two mom's who were in the store told me to buy them big, and the shoe manager suggested the size 5 too.
The shoes are great. I'm stil not sold on this large size (I'm tempted to go back and buy the 4 as well) but the cool thing is my son doesn't seem to mind. He wears them with and without sox. He plays just fine in them. Now he has shoes just like Mommy's and Daddy's. This really is the only pair of summer shoes that he owns. They look cute enough to wear with khaki's and button downs (that's about as dresses up as he gets at this point!) and of course perfect to wear w/jeans or shorts.
The brown and orange stitching is the combo we bought and they go with lots of his clothes.
I gave this 4 stars only because if they came in half sizes, then they'd be perfect! I wish they did, but most shoes for baby's at this age don't. The 4's are also slightly big in length, but I can barely squeeze his foot into the opening.
You'll love these shoes and you wont need to buy any other shoe for you young child for the rest of the summer.
By the way, they are easily bendable for new walkers, and they have a little bit of arch support too. Perfect for a developing walker and his feet!

Back of Shoe is no longer open
These are staples for my son each summer. In fact, since he started wearing shoes, these are the ONLY shoes I get for the summer. One pair will last the entire summer, but if I can find them on sale, I buy two pair just for variety.
I wont go on about how great they are (everyone else has) but know, this is THEE only shoe your child will need this summer.
Easy on and off. Durable and tough for the outdoors. They stay looking nice. If they get dirty or even muddy, you can throw them in the wash. They dry quickly in case he/she wears them in the water. You can dress him/her up in them for a nice dinner out (polo, jeans or shorts, keens = looking great!)
Two things to note: over the years, Keen has changed where their shoes are manufactured. In some years I notice that a size 5 (for example) looks the same as a size 6. Most of the time now if I order online, I buy two sizes and return whichever doesn't fit. VERY INCONSISTENT... which is the most disappointing thing from KEEN.
Second, the 2012 Newport has a closed back!!! I'm not happy about this! Their little feet were still protected with the open back. Now these are almost like shoes, not sandals... and I'm considering ordering a second pair this summer of a different KEEN style just so my son's feet can be exposed to a bit more air.
Grrrr... KEEN. I'm sure you had your reasons. The shoe is still great. But bummer, wish they hadn't changed that. :(

Great sandals for my 3 girls
After owning the adult version for a few months, I got a pair for my 3 daughters aged 4 to 11. The color selection allowed us to get the same style but different colors which is important for them. It has been a warm summer here so the girls didn't want to wear sneakers but flip flops aren't good for a lot of walking or running around. We've had a few skinned knees due to poor footwear. Also, one of my daughters has really flat feet (like me) and needs the extra instep support these provide. Most sandals don't have this support which is one of the reasons Keens are great. They really are light and cool like a regular sandal but have traction and support like a good hiking shoe. My girls love them. The toe box is roomy which we need. My four year old in particular absolutely loves them- they are her "jumping shoes." She loves to run around and jump in them and they never leave marks or blisters. She is our adventurer so for them to meet her needs shows they are not just a pretty sandal. We've done all day walks (with some serious tag thrown in) in them with no complaints or sore feet. Keen in general is the best and these sandals in particular.

Great Everyday Shoe For Toddlers
These are great for toddlers. I purchased a pair for my 12 mo. old granddaughter and she loves them, especially at the playground. She likes to walk up the sliding board (with our help of course) and these are the only shoes that enable her to do this without slipping. She's very active and walks a lot every day. She had already worn out a pair of regular baby shoes when we got her these, which after 2 months of constant use show no signs of wear. These are heavier than regular baby shoes and we were concerned she might have a problem but she adjusted immediately. Now, if we try to give her a different shoe, she has a little trouble with them and slides around a lot. These give her excellent traction on any surface and seem to facilitate her walking and running. Luckily we live in SoCal so she can wear these year-round. Have already bought the next 2 larger sizes so she can continue with these uninterrupted. Just be sure and measure your child's foot and then refer to the shoe sizing chart for the correct size, as we had to buy a size larger than her regular shoes.

Well Worth the Price
My husband thought these sandals were too expensive for baby shoes. However, I purchased them for my 18 month old last summer because everyone at our local clinic wears and swears by these sandals. He wore them almost everyday all summer long, and they still look great. They're not scuffed like some of the leather and suede shoes he's had before.
They were easy for me to get on and off in a rush but also pretty easy for my son to get off too. I had to be vigilant to keep from losing a shoe.
I really didn't like the brown "Pinecone" color they came in, but I got used to it because they matched pretty much everything he wore. The navy ones (which I almost bought) are not cute and look like every other cheap blue sandal you can pickup elsewhere. I'm jealous of the girls' colors, because the boys' colors look "woodsy" and kind of boring. Boring or not, I guess we'll go with gray this year.

Almost perfect
Bought these for our first child and he wore them just a few months after he started walking. Thought the soles would be stiff just due to how thick they were, but they were plenty flexible where he had no issues walking in them. Love the fact there's a bit of toe protection and room in the toe box for thick wool socks as well. Was abe to still use them in cali winter. The only issue we had was they made his feet stink. None of his other shoes have this problem...even his other pair of (truckee) keens. Maybe it's the rubber. Was told by an REI employee to let them sit in the sun to reactivate the antimicrobial treating. Will see if that works on our 2nd pair of these since he finally outgrew his first pair. So yes...they make his feet stink, but other than that these are great for everyday wear.

Best sandal we have tried so far
We bought these for my daughter after running in sandals caused her to fall and scrape her knees badly twice in a week. Once we bought these, she stopped tripping while running, which has made us all much happier.
These take a lot of wear (they have been my daughter's only shoes all summer!) and still look new. They are easy to clean, and stay on her feet no matter what she is doing or climbing.
We also bought Buster Brown Toddler Expo Bump Toe Fisherman Sandal, which were slightly less expensive. However, the Buster Brown sandals were too tight around the ankle and, although they were sold as the same size, the Buster Brown sandals were much smaller and stopped fitting her feet about a month earlier. The Keen sandals were definitely the better buy.

Best summer shoes!
I bought the Newport shoes for my son last summer and they were the best! We live in Phoenix where it is super hot and he wore them everyday! Usually people don't wear socks and shoes here in the summer, but you can't run and play in flip-flops. I love the look of these over the teva-style sandals and I think that my active son could run and jump easier in this style as well. It is a tennis shoe with lots of breathing room!
I am getting them for this summer now too and I will be getting them for my kids every year! THe ones from last year are still in great shape (even though he wore them every day). I will be saving them for my next son to wear too!

Perfect Shoes for Arizona Weather
We absolutely love these shoes. In fact, I am planning on buying my son another pair soon because he has finally out grown his last pair. However, they old pair still look practically new even though he wore them almost every day for a year.
The shoes go on in a flash, and they seem to be very comfortable for him because he never complained or tried to take them off. He is always getting them muddy, but I just rinse them in the sink and dry them in the sun. When the weather was cooler, I would have him wear them with socks.
I just got my older daughter a pair a few months ago. Now I want some!

Best Summer Shoe
Our daughter had her 2nd pair of purple Keens this summer. We'll keep buying these as her summer shoes. They keep her feet safe, they're wide enough, and she's comfortable in them. They're sturdy, which is good for our adventurous toddler/preschooler. I (mom) have a personal bias against flip flops. WHY would anyone make them small enough for a child just getting comfey with the whole walking/running thing? WHY would I want to worry that her shoes may make her fall down? Well, I wouldn't. So, we buy Keens.
