Positive Reviews:

The best backpack I've ever owned!

Rating:*****
This is a fantastic pack, with many features you would normally only find on packs worth much more. Its suspension is amazingly adjustable: I have a relatively long torso (20.5''), and I was initially dubious of Kelty's claim that this pack could fit torsos from 16'' to 22''. But it can, thanks to some nifty features (for example, the load-lifter straps have two different points of attachments, one for shorter torsos, and one for long torsos). My only complaint is that I had to visit kelty's website to find out how to adjust the suspension, and even then their instructions were pretty vague.Once adjusted, it was the most comfortable pack I have ever owned. I am able to carry 40 pounds of gear without the slightest discomfort. For a pack this solid, it is also quite light and still has multiple pockets that make it easy to organize. Don't be fooled by the price! In spite of being less expensive than many packs, this one is truly top quality. In fact, another customer in the store while I was trying on the Kelty Coyote told me that, after trying the Kelty, he was considering buying it instead of the Gregory pack he had come to the store to purchase.

the best pack ever!!!

Rating:*****
I love this pack. This was my first pack of my own but i have hiked with other packs. The Cloudlock suspension is great! I love how easily adjustable it is. The two aluminum stays are great at almost making the weight disappear. The front hatch that opens to the inside of the pack is great if you need to grab something out of your pack. The top of the pack is great because of the space available to hold a rain jacket or rain cover for fast access. You can also hold your G.O.R.P or whatever else you want. This is a great pack and i highly recommend it!! nice job Kelty!!!!!

Great pack at a great price

Rating:*****
This is the first pack I've purchased after borrowing for many trips. The two key strength's of this pack are the value and versatility. The versatility comes in many forms: straps are adjustable for most torso lengths, many external pockets for organization and ease of access and overall volume. I've cinched it down for a 20-mile overnighter and didn't feel overburdened as well as taken it on 3-5 day ventures.

I had hoped to get a pack with a sleeping bag cmopartment like most of the packs I had used, but this isn't a major issue. The top and rear access panels make up for not having this area separated.

Great Budget Pack

Rating:*****
This is one pretty solid pack. I got it as a replacement for an older kelty pack, and it works great. There is a ton of room, as i was able to fit enough stuff for a 2 week backcountry trip in Lake George, NY and i still had extra room. The pack is very adjustable, extremely comfortable, and the straps work great. But my favorite features are the pockets in the hip belt. They're great for storing maps, compasses, GPS', radios, or energy bars, and they really come in handy. Overall, this is a great pack and I would highly recommend it.
patgoeshiking at REI on 08/17/2009

Quality, functional

Rating:*****
Very nice pack, what a steal at [$] Nice size selection of pockets inside and out. I absolutely need front access in addition to the top, so this pack works great. I like the gear loops on the outside. Very comfortable, waist straps adjust very easily and take the load off well. The only thing I would add are some adjustable side straps, but I'm sure I can rig something for a tent/pad etc. Well worth the full retail price of about $130 or so.
markb01 at REI on 06/10/2009

Great pack for a great value!

Rating:****
This is my first backpack purchase and I am very pleased with this pack. It was very comfortable on a 5 day trip in the Sierra's with 40-45 lbs. Plenty of room for all my gear, bear canister and food. I could have spent more $$$ on other packs, but the Kelty did the job above and beyond expectations! I would prefer a sleeping bag compartment and a 100 oz. bladder takes up a lot of room inside the pack.
dbeaz at REI on 04/20/2009

great backpack

Rating:*****
this backpack is great! so far i have only taken it on weekend hikes and it has worked great for me! it's cheaper than most out there and i have found it to be more comfortable than higher dollar ones. the only draw back i can think of is that it does not have a sleeping bag compartment but it still works great none the less. over all it's definitely worth the money
TCarter at REI on 07/17/2009

Great value!

Rating:****
I love the versatility of this pack. It expands as you need more space from a day hike to a multi-day trek. Excellent padding and adjustment system. Does seem a bit bulky, but don't let that be a bummer against this pack. Can't beat the quality, durability, comfort and storage for the price.
mountainman84 at REI on 02/27/2009

A compatible pack for all sizes

Rating:****
I am a boy scout so i hike and backpack all the time. The Coyote's ajustable back pads allow me to slide the back cushion and shoulder straps down to my samll size. It has plenty of outer pockets and the hydration bladder sleave is accessable even when the pack is full.
Dave the boy scout at REI on 04/01/2009

Packtastic...

Rating:*****
Great pack with lots of features. Easy to adjust and fits great. Wieght sit in just the right place... on your hips. Lots and lots of room for all of your gear. You will not find a better pack at this price, not even close. Oh and speaking of price... awesome value.

Other Reviews:

"Awesome pack! I am planning on using it on a hiking trip down into the grand canyon and it appears as though this is going to meet all my needs. I just used it for a trip into the U.P. of MI and the pack did great! Everything seemed sturdy and i could tell the design of the pack was well thought out. The only thing i wish this pack had that it lacks is something that could seperate a lower portion of the bag from the top if you needed that additional orginization however the pack as many pockets that help add to the orginization. I love this pack and would def buy it again!"
