Great Carrier | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I don't have a whole lot of experience with child carriers, but I do have a good amount of time spent backpacking. This carrier feels very similar to my "Cadillac" pack in terms of comfort. Adjusted/sized right, it's extremely comfortable. I am not sure how the 50lbs weight limit would feel, only been up to about 35lbs or so, but at that weight it's a great ride. It is VERY stable on your back, with no lateral sway or vertical bounce, even though it's fairly extended from your back. As such, and it might be the case with all child carriers and that I'm just not very well accustomed yet, but the child is well located on your back - not so high that overhanging branches will thwack them, but because the pack carries so well, it's hard to "feel" where the kid is in relation to you. Not entirely convinced that's a bad thing, but something to be aware of starting out. Also, the little daypack that unzips off of the back is sort of useless as a backpack itself, if you were considering sharing the load with your significant other. Other than that, I have no problems with this carrier at all, just looking for something to point out so that this review isn't all smiles and sunshine, which I find hard to take seriously. Get the FC sun/rain hood, which stows away in the back pocket, and you've got the FC 3.0 (only difference). All around, awesome pack, I highly recommend it

Comfortable Kid Carrier

I'm a 5'4" short-wasted girl, so I need a kid carrier that adjusts to shrink down to fit me well so I don't have back pain while carting my 25 lb. son around. When I wear this pack I feel like he's an extension of my body and I love it! If I have the pack sitting on the floor in the house, he walks over to it and asks to get in - so obviously it's comfortable and fun for him to ride in, too. Key features are the small zip pouch on the waist belt, adjustable straps in key places to get a great individual fit, and nice sized storage areas. It's also easy to get the pack on and off. I highly recommend this kid carrier!

I never thought my daughter would actually enjoy being in a carrier enough to actually get mad when I try to take her out. I'm 6'4" and this adjusted nicely to my height, but with the amount of different adjustments this should be able to fit anybody short or tall. The padding is really nice in the kids "cockpit" and so is the straps for the adult. I'm just really impressed so far by the quality, amount of cargo room, functionality and comfort put in this pack by Kelty.
