Heavy but Dry and Sturdy

Rating:*****
After my second use of this tent in the high dessert of the Jemez Mountains for 3 weeks I have to say I am completely satisfied with this tent. It stood up to some pretty intense wind gusts and some heavy down pours. Even during some very heavy downpours in which I had left the windows open my tent and it's contents remained completely dry in conjuction with the fly and footprint. My neighbors didn't fare so well. I chose this tent for it's clearance height. I have some knee problems as I'm getting older. It was nice to be able to stand up in my tent. At 18 pounds it is not a tent that you want to be carrying around on a backpacking or canoe trip where you will be portaging but for car camping or music festivals where you will be staying put it's a sure bet. I am very experienced at setting up tents and was able to set it up by myself without too much trouble although it is significantly more cumbersome than the smaller, lighter tents and having a second person to help with set up is ideal but not necessary.

Very easy to set up and keeps you dry

Rating:****
This is the first tent I've ever bought though I've camped with others for years. My wife and I found it very comfortable and roomy. We were able to fit an air mattress and all our gear inside with no trouble. I was able to set it up with relative ease the first time I took it out, even though it was well after dark. Was sturdy in the wind and stayed dry in the rain. The door zipper can get stuck if you are in a hurry, but is fairly easy to undo. The tent got pretty hot with the rain fly on, though there is probably a way to get more ventalation than we were getting (it was unseasonably warm, low 90s, where we were camping). Did not fit easily back into the bag, and the bag does not seem very rugged. As other posters have mentioned, I will probably get a different bag to store the tent and rain fly in. Overall, this is a great tent for 2-4 people who like to car camp.

Not like the picture

Rating:****
I swear by Kelty and had a Yellowstone about 10 years ago that I outgrew. Before I purchased this recent tent [...], I called Kelty to ask if the door was either all mesh or if you can zip up a panel. (I like to watch the campfire from the tent and I was noticing some changes in the Yellowstone). They said you can do either. I scampered off to [...] to purchase this tent. The door is NOT mesh, there is only a very small area of mesh at the top. No options. Also, the back window is much smaller than in the picture and there is only one guy line per side. The picture shows two each side. I called Kelty to ask that they change their picture to reflect the actual product and returned the tent [...]. I still think Kelty is a great brand.

Great tent to vacation in

Rating:****
We received this tent as a wedding gift, and we're really happy with it! It was VERY quick to set up, even our 1st time. Quality of construction is great, though the fly zippers tend to get caught in the extra fabric meant to cover the fly zippers on the outside (so we had to tell our child to be careful!). The tent storage bag is compact but flimsy (it ripped near 1 of the straps), so I'll either have to fix or use an old duffel bag instead. We also loved the space in it--could fit our backpacks at our feet and little items in the convenient side pockets. Overall, it's a great tent and we're looking forward to sleeping in it again!

Good tent for the money

Rating:****
Used for car camping. Very roomy tent, as a 6 person should be.

I did manage to set it up myself Christmas eve, but it's a lot nicer to have help.

Relatively easy to set up, thought the poles seem a bit long and overtension the tent a bit. I'm not a fan of the clips the poles plug into. They are a unique design rainfly clip/pole plug that is plastic, and I fear destined to break once stepped on.

Impossibly to source anywhere from from Kelty, and even then difficult to sew in, breakage of this part might be a tent-killer, I fear.

Great all around tent!

Rating:****
Recently took this tent camping with my 5 year old son in the AZ mountains. Was concerned due to the possibility of rain over the weekend. Of course it was windy and rained steadily all day and most of the night. Was afraid we'd wake up to a lake in the tent. Not to worry, this tent performed flawlessly! No leaks at all! Everything stayed dry all night and day.

Would recommend this tent for anyone that is price conscious but is looking for good quality tent. Tent footprint is somewhat small but I would recommend getting it as well.

So far so good. I like it.

Rating:****
I went camping at a state park campsite. Tent and rainfly was set up correctly and inside was the air bed, bag of clothes and other stuff. Rained with high winds the night of but no down pour. Woke up middle of the night to check on the tent & our equipment. Tent was rattling a bit due to the high winds and was completely dry from the rain. Vents in the tent is decent for ventalation so no complaints there.

Only Tent Still Standing and Dry at Camp

Rating:*****
First time I used this tent at Boyscout Camp a severe storm came through. This was the only tent left standing and it was totally dry inside. This tent was easy to put up. Even with the size I was able to put it up by myself. The poles are heavy so it wouldn't work well for backpacking, but it is great for all other types of camping.

One of few standing @ Moraine Park

Rating:****
This tent was our home for several nights of camping in the Rockies. Our first night was extremely windy (reported gusts @ 80mph). While it shook and flapped all night, in the morning it was one of only 3-4 standing in a campground with around 20 or so tents. It even impressed my 14 year old daughter!

Our best tent choice ever!

Rating:*****
The price was good. [...] For the two of us, it's like home when camping. Roomy enough for bed, table, 2 chairs and our bags, etc. If weather is bad, we can stay comfortably inside, staying dry.
