Positive Reviews:

I am a big proponent of poles

Rating:****
I have an old set of poles that I have used for many years. They save my legs both uphill and downhill and have helped me to avoid many a sprained ankle on rougher terrain. I've been waiting for the right deal to replace the old ones and this was the best deal I could hope for. These new poles are lighter than my old ones and will log many miles. As a three section pole they compact down quite nicely for carrying or strapping to your pack. They appear to be very durable and are definitely easy to adjust. The only thing I wish was different would be if they came with snow baskets, not the small baskets they came with.

Worked for me

Rating:****
These were the first trekking poles I've ever used so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was very pleased with them. My brother and I each used one pole during a 3 day trek through the Andes of Peru (the Lares Trek to Machu Picchu). I didn't know what to expect from them but I'm *sure* they helped keep me out of streams, from sliding down rocks and lessened the impacts to my knees. I was worried I would get annoyed carrying them for 3 days, they were lightweight and useful so I wouldn't have it any other way. I really have no complaints, but again, I have nothing to compare them to.

lightweight, great poles

Rating:*****
I don't know how these will stand up for heavy duty use; they are the first pair I have had and I do not hike for great distances daily. But for the price, they are a great introduction. They fold up and fit my luggage and backpack and will be easy to carry offtrail.Since they are infinitely adjustable they are good for my husband, too: he's six feet and I'm five.

Good basic hiking poles

Rating:****
These are great poles for the price. They are easy to adjust and strong, but have hard, uncomfortable grips. I've had great success with them so far, whether climbing mountains, snowshoeing, or backpacking. My one big frustration was when I tried to remove the standard baskets to add snow baskets. This was d*mn near impossible and the big design flaw on these. DOn't expect to change out the baskets often.

Perfect for traveling

Rating:*****
These trekking poles are very lightweight and collapse to a very short length, so they are easy to take along wherever you go. Adjusting them to the height one needs is easy and quick. I love these and think I will buy another pair for when I hike with a friend who doesn't have any.

Basic trekking poles

Rating:****
Very light weight. Just your basic run of the mill trekking poles. If you want the bare minimum poles for a few days of backcountry, these are for you. Will do the job without the fancy shock absorbers. Would please any minimalist. Grips are hard, but probably best for feeling the terrain.

Functions as trekking poles

Rating:****
Love that it shrinks down to 25" so I can strap it to my pack while glissading. The grips aren't the most comfortable, so after a few hours of use without gloves, blisters could form at heel of hand. Also, grips are a harder plastic/rubber - not non-slip. Otherwise great!

I love mine!

Rating:*****
I've had mine for years and would never complain about the strength or quality. They've been with me on day hikes and 4 week expeditions. I've even put all my weight on them whie carrying an 80+ pound pack and they are still true. I'd be lost without them!

trekking poles

Rating:*****
I have a bad back and arthritis in my knees and I have to say if you are on the fence about getting trekking poles.......do it! your knees and back will thank you for it.

Just what I was looking for.

Rating:*****
I was looking for a quality trekking pole that would callapse to 29" or less in order to fit into my travel duffle. This item collapses to 25" and fits the bill all around.

Negative Reviews:

Broke on my first hike

Rating:*
I was very disappointment by the Komperdell's performance. On my first day of using them, one of the poles snapped as I crossed a tame creek.

Bushwhacking poles? Maybe not..

Rating:***
I purchased these poles for my husband who had knee surgery 2 months ago. We took them out on a day hike. Our hike turned into bushwhacking through the desert mesquite and scrambling up and down a canyon wall. They worked very well and were lightweight. They did bend a little when my husband slipped on loose gravel and went down. The good news is, his knee is fine. My hands are small so I don't like the grips but he likes them. For the price they are a good pole.

good but not great

Rating:***
Pretty standard poles. Komperdell makes good stuff and these are similar to another pair I have used for years. I assume these would be just as servicable but I didn't keep them so really don't know. Grips are awfully hard. Collapsed, they are longer than the my other poles and wouldn't won't fit in my carry-on suitcase. Trekking poles are a must for those of us with weak knees who want to keep on hiking. Mine go with me almost everywere.

OK product

Rating:***
I used the product twice, once for snowshoeing and once, telescoped down as walking sticks for my grandchildren. Seemed to work ok both times. Wish I had winter baskets during the snowshoe trip rather than the summer baskets that came with it. Good price. (on sale)

They were great until one broke

Rating:***
One broke while adjusting it. It came unscrewed, as I was lifting it to tighten fitting it snapped off at the screw. They will do fine as long as you lift it straight up and don't put any pressure on it between adjustments.
