Korkers Metalhead Wading Boots Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I like these boots a lot -- I've fished in them for some 10-12 days now, and here are my initial impressions:
BOA: I really like this system -- it makes it very easy to put the boots on and to take them off. I am looking forward to using them in the winter, hoping that it won't ice up like my regular laces do. I am not able to get the boots as tight as I did with laces -- I get to a point where it's pretty hard to spin the wheel, and I'm afraid of breaking it.
Fit: I wear 10-10.5 street size, and the size 10 Korkers were the ones that fit. I tried 11's and 12's, thinking that with the waders I need to go up a size. I almost made the 11's work with an extra insole, but the BOA didn't let me crank it tight enough. Go with your street size.
Kling-on rubber: very poor. I tried it out on the Eagle River (CO), and feel twice in the first hour. The rubber soles don't stick to anything. But I'm guessing they'll work well for hiking and for sandy creeks in WI.
Felt sole: pretty good. It still slides around mossy rocks, but works much better than the rubber.
Studded felt sole: best choice. I used this on the Green River (UT), Arkansas (CO), Yampa (CO), and it worked great everywhere.
The outer sole is glued to an orange plastic, and that plastic seems poor quality. One of my rubber soles cracked while being removed (Backcountry.com already replaced it), but I see hairline cracks in the other soles, just from regular use.
Since soles are so easy to swap, I'm using the rubber sole to hike/motorcycle to the river, and then swapping to studded felt for actual fishing.
On the overall I'm very pleased with the boots, now that I found the size that fits me. The sole interchange system is good, and I look forward to trying out the Svelte sole when it comes out too.

Excellent boot...

There are several reasons to buy this boot: Replaceable soles (laws may change outlawing felt ie Alaska, different soles for different conditions, can buy other soles for specific conditions ie studded felt). Boa lacing system: Getting these on and off is so awesome. When your fingers are cold, and you just want to get your gear off it is done. Before fishing, just crank the knob. During fishing...don't worry about your laces coming undone. The boa system comes with a 10-year warranty which will outlast the rest of the boot. Fit: They just fit great. The boa lacing system is one of the reasons they fit great. It evenly distributes the tightness of the boot. So why only 4 stars instead of 5? Because that knob can break off. I broke mine the second time out while goose hunting and quickly getting into my blind. It caught on a metal cross bar and snapped right off. Picking up decoys with a boot that didn't want to stay on was a pain. The good news is that Korkers was willing to take care of me should the store not take them back. They were ready to rush me a new pair before I even sent back the broken, used pair. Good customer service. One other note: Korkers sells replacement knobs. I would buy some and have it with your gear. Someone else mentioned having athletic tape in your gear as well...just wrap up that boot should the knob break to at lease not ruin your fishing/hunting trip. The small minor issue aside, these are the boots to buy. Excellent system. A friend of mine is buying them as soon as he saw mine.

These boots are worthy of being in your bag. They provide a great fit with the Boa closure system that locks you in so when the outsoles kick in to high gear, your as surefooted as a mountain goat. After four 15+ hour days in these boots immediately after taking them out of the box, I am happy to report that they made a great impression. They were incredibly comfortable all day long - the only reason I was reminded I was wearing them was when the traction saved my bacon (several times a day).
The only boots I'll wear from here on out...

Simply Brilliant Design

The title says it all. I looked online and in stores for a long time before I decided on a set of wading boots. And these were by far the most innovative Wading boots I could find. The boa system is fantastic, and the interchangeable treads are phenomenal, They are very secure and the boots give great support without being clunky. I do plan on getting the AlumaTrax for more grip when it's icy but the rubber treads that come with them give a good amount of grip in most situations.

Best wading boots on the market

You cant beat these wading boots so easy to slip on and off and keep feet warm. I love these boots and will be buying a pair when the ones i got go out. But the easiness to take them off and put them on amazes me. Be the first one on the river at daylight when the competition is lacing up and twist these babies to perfection.

These boots are fantastic! The Boa lacing system lets you get in and out of these things easily without having to hop on one foot all over the parking lot. The synthetic materials dry quickly and the felt soles provide great footing.

Good, but not perfect

Used these boots last April for 3 days on the OP. One day was wading for only a couple of hours, the other two days were drift fishing with only in the water time being when I was getting the boat in and out.
When I got home after they dried, I noticed the rubber strap at the back heel was cracked. I attempted to take the strap off without breaking it but to no avail. This pretty much makes the sole useless and now I have to order new felt soles or try to get by with the other set which are the rubber/lug soles.
In retrospect maybe a better washing and then treating with protectant might help. I just don't think that the strap should deteriate that fast.
