Lafuma XMotion Mid OT Hiking Shoe

Men's Footwear > Hiking BootsRated: **** by 8 reviews.

Backcountry.com Outlet

Lafuma built the XMotion Mid OT Hiking Shoe with its waterproof breathable Outdry liner to keep you dry as you tromp through the Pacific Northwest, New Zealand’s south island, or Europe’s Alps in spring. A gusseted tongue blocks moisture from creeping in under the laces and a midcut increases ankle support for long days on the go. A Vibram XMotion sole gives you all the traction you need to scramble up steep embankments and negotiate muddy trails. Lafuma also reinforced the toe to save you from stubs.

Positive Reviews:

pretty light shoe

Rating:****

i like these for general walking around and mild scrambling. i did use them on a rocky hike on mt ranier ( lots of tallis) and my soles were feeling it after a short while - this is basically a light weight sneaker type shoe, but with a decent grippy sole and a nice waterproofing feature, which works well. they also look good. it's great on non-technical terrain. my feet were not hot despite the very warm temps. i wouldn't try carrying a pack with these on. they would be great with a little more protection/stiffness in the mid layer.

Extremely happy

Rating:*****

I don't write reviews unless I really like a product. I like this product. Got them yesterday, just in time for an overnight camping trip. They fit great, no need to break them in. I was a little skeptical of buying a mid-top boot, I've been a fan of low tops but these suck my heels in really well. Even my left heel which is EXTREMELY rare. It seems no matter what kind of shoe I buy my left heel slips, not with these though. Great fit and looks to be very well made. I'm sold on Lafuma.

A Great Shoe

Rating:*****

This shoe is a great all-around hiking shoe but is able to "step-up" when required. I pulled the shoes out of the box and immediately tackled an unknown hiking path. It was the Matterhorn Glacier Hike and ranged from boulders and shale/shingle to normal dirt. This shoe came through with flying colors. Held me on unstable ground as others were slipping and was very comfortable throughout. Highly recommend this shoe!

Excellent hiker

Rating:*****

This is a great hiker...I like it better than the low top version which was an award winner in Back Packer magazine. Ankle top is a better solution than any low tops I've used. Previous favorite hiker was Garmont Nasty which is now out of production. Good cushioning, stable platform with great grips on steep terrain. LaFuma got this right. Highly recommend. Size was as advertised.

good footing, once you get your size

Rating:****

This mid boot performed well on an agressive mountain hike up a gravely, rocky trail. After receiving my usual size , I had to freturn them for a half-size smaller. That shoe was comfortable right away. I haven't hiked through water yet, but I like the lightness of the Out dry. Thay's a feature that sold me on this boot, along with the pricing.

Urban hiker

Rating:*****

I exchanged this shoe for a Montrail Blue Ridge GTX hiking boot. This seems like a pretty nice shoe for urban trekking or smooth trail hiking but it feels insubstantial. The uppers are not real rugged and the sole/footbed is pretty thin. Would not want to be stepping on a lot of angular rocks with these. Comfortable though, and true to size.

Sizing is too big

Rating:*****

Got my number and it was half a size too big. Same problem as other buyers, so go half a size smaller on your purchase.

Negative Reviews:

Resewn or defect?

Rating:**

Recently purchased this boot. First hike it ripped at seam. Upon close inspection, it appears this area had been resewn already. Or, is it old stock and rotted? Can I trust Lafuma again? Also, sizing is somewhat off. Runs a little on the larger side. Picture of defect included in photo section. What do you think?
