| I wish I had these baskets when I ran into snow conditions! The baskets work better in soft snow as opposed to snow that is hard packed, or nearing ice hardness. As opposed to the stock baskets that come with the poles, these baskets are about 4 to 5 times the size in diameter and really allow the user to leverage their weight onto the snow and distribute the downward force over a much greater area, much like when using snowshoes. The baskets also don't have the serrated teeth edges that come with the standard Leki baskets, and so they don't bite into the snow and get stuck as easily. | These are a must in backcounty snowshoeing. The biggest ones are a bit cumbersom, but these work very well. They also hold up well to rock and sticks and such. And they stay on no matter what! | |
