Perhaps you don't relish the idea of messing with an on/off switch for the shock-absorbing features on your trekking poles. Welcome to Leki's Super Makalu COR-TEC PA Antishock Trekking Poles. Leki made this pair of poles with spring pitches that are limited to 10mm, so the poles absorb shock on the way down without zapping your strength on the uphill hike. The COR-TEC handles feel cool when you're sweating but won't remind you of icicles when it's chilly outside, and these handles have slight bends that relieve stress on your wrist joints.

Appalachain Outdoors

With a wide adjustability range and antishock technology, the Leki Super Makalu Cor Tec trekking poles gives you stability on uneven hiking terrain, confidence when fording a stream, and relief for your knees when descending. Features: Fully adjustable, 3-section poles adjust from 32 inches to 56 inches. Turbo Disc grip set on a positive angle allows your wrists to stay in a neutral position; adjustable wrist straps keep poles with you. Carbide flex tips flex up to 30° without damaging the shaft. Easy locking system to change length.

Positive Reviews:

"Comfortable, Durable, and a great Asset to any hiker."

Rating:*****
I'll admit that I was a little skeptical at first about buying poles. I mean, how much could they really help, but these things are great. I recently used them on a 3 day trekking trip in New Zealand, and was very pleased with their performance. I went over rocks, ice, snow, mud, up-hill, down-hill and thanks to these bad boys, never lost my balance once. Also, if you're like me and stop often along the trail to take pictures, these poles are a great help in trying to make up lost time. If you enjoy putting a good steady pace on your hikes and covering a decent number of miles, then check them out. Overall, they are the best purchase that I have made all year.

"Overall a fantastic buy - saw a lot of other hikers sporting these on the trails as well!"

Rating:*****
Fantastic product by Leki. I've used these poles on two occasions so far and can confidently say that they've improved my climbing performance and have spared my knees of great pain and injury. The positives 1They're light! you can barely feel the weight when they're in your hands, which reduces the burden on the biceps/triceps as you repeatedly stake them into the ground and propel yourself up in elevation. 2Comfortable grips! The Cor-tec material feels much smoother than cork, and doesn't absorb an excessive amount of hand perspiration and thus minimizes the possibility of hand slippage while focused on how to negotiate uneven trails. The negatives 1Wear some gloves! In warm, sunn

"Love the poles, love the company, love the design, works great"

Rating:*****
I have used these poles on a number of ocassions on various terrains and they are awesome. The graphite tips grip well to even wet rocks and are very flexible keeping them from breaking. I'm about 180 lbs and 6'2" and they hold my weight just fine. The grips feel great and I have never developed blisters and the poles have never collapsed unexpectedly on me. The adjustments are very easy to use and the pole is easily disassembled for cleaning. They are also lightweight and compress to a very manageable size. Leki even replaced the lower section on my pole free when I accidentally bent the locking mechanism.

"I like my poles as well as do the chics on the trail."

Rating:*****
Great poles. I loved my previous Super Makalu poles but love the 08 version even better. They are the same extended length but store a shorter length than earlier models. The anti shock system is better too for its at the lower section of the poles. Every time I see a smokin hot chic on the trail, I can now say Hey babe, check out my poles response usually oh your poles have improved

"Pretty sweet"

Rating:*****
I was pretty skeptical of trekking poles at first, and then I used these little guys. They're super light, the cork handle is comfy despite the looks of it. It doesn't get wet and clammy like a foam grip does. The anti-shock feature is pretty awesome as well. All my buddies love 'em, even though they have their own poles of different species. They really like the anti-shock feature. Good stuff!

"No complaints - these are ready for war..."

Rating:****
I bought a pair of these for myself, and the Leki Thermolite Anti-Shocks for my wife for a Mt. Rainier climb this summer... Both are excellent but the Thermolite's are several ounces lighter. If you are a medium sized human or smaller the Thermolite's might actually be the way to go -- cut a little weight, but get all the performance. My $0.02 for what it's worth.

"LIght, knee savers"

Rating:****
I used to think hiking poles were for wusses...until I bought a pair. They help my knees take less of a beating when going downhill and when carrying heavy loads. These poles are pricey, but very light. The cork grips are nice too. My only gripe is they occasionally collapse when I'm not expecting it, but this can be remedied with a brief adjustment.

"These will save your knees!"

Rating:*****
I don't know how I've managed to hike for so many years without trekking poles. I got these at the end of last season and they saved my knees! The suspension in the poles rocks. In addition they are very lightweight.

"Love the grips"

Rating:*****
I love the Cor-tec grips, it doesn't rub uncomfortably when hiking quite a distance. The anti-shock feature is pretty great and has saved my knees quite a bit. The lightweight poles shrink down to a great compact size.

Neutral Reviews:

"Hmmm - how good are these?"

Rating:***
Can't believe that LEKI is not marketing these things on "the Biggest Loser". There are so many people that are overweight, injured, older, and less mobile that could benefit from trekking poles. If I were CEO of this company, I would fire the entire marketing division - such pathetic tunnel vision - morons.
