Very nice system for the money
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Just installed this system in May 2009, so I can't comment on longevity. I can say that it seems like a very well built system for the money ([$]). What I like:The Glass Backboard (not acrylic, not fiberglass) is beautiful - it has very good backboard response which was important to me. Also, the height adjustment is very simple and easy to work. I was a little uncertain about the pole size, thinking it might need to be more "beefy", but I'm happy with the stability of the installed system. The instructions have you fill the bottom section of the pole with Cement and I think that helped a lot.Gripes:The installation with any inground system takes some work, and this beautiful glass backboard is quite heavy making it tough to mount on the pole ... but that's a 1 time problem.Didn't see it listed in the specs, but my system also came with lights and lighting poles. The light support poles seem flimsy compared to the construction of the rest of the system.Bottom line: At [$], this is a great system for the money. From my experience, you'd have to spend over $1500 to get a better system. | |

Outstanding product, not bad to assemble
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Very well constructed, quality materials. Assembly isn't bad if you take your time and do it little by little over a period of time. Definitely need 3 people to secure the backboard. Tempered glass backboard gives good bounce. Only nit I have is the slight shaking you get on a rebound, even though the pole is securely cemented. But it's not enough to complain. | |

Great for the money | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I suggest you have it installed for you unless you are on the handy side. Quality is great. I did alot of research once I settled on a lifetime glass backboard and chose this one after calling lifetime and talking to a friendly rep who helped me decide. [...]. | |

But poor mounting design
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This system (and many others by Lifetime) are designed to be direct buried into the concrete. This is not well disclosed, in fact, the display units in the store have a nice mounting plate similar to those used by other brands (such as Goaliath). I even asked the store to be sure, and they told me it used the mounting plate method.Once the product shipped (special order), I looked up what size hole to dig so I could be ready when it came. Only then did I discover that the pole is to be direct buried in the concrete. I am an engineer with construction experience, and know that is difficult to suspend a pole 16" deep in a 32" hole and keep it square and plumb while concrete is poured and cures.THIS IS A POOR DESIGN. Other manufacturers use anchor bolts in the concrete, which bolt to a mounting plate at the base of the pole. This allows the pole to be plumbed when installing or replaced if damaged.I took mine to a welder and paid $100 to mount a plate. Should have bought the Goaliath for the same money, but it had already shipped, and I would have been out the $100 for shipping if returned. POOR GUIDANCE FROM DICKS! I asked this specific question (twice actually at two different stores) and was told wrong. Then was never offered a resolution.Otherwise construction is good, and Lifetime has the advantage with the quick adjust gas-filled cylinder (springs on cylinder are cosmetic only). Further, the "y-arms" extend to the outside edge of the backboard - making it more stable than others similar. | |

Nice board-------but | |

| I am pretty good at putting things together and this was hard. Directions hard to follow. Arm to raise/lower board broke due to poor weld. lifetime sent new one, Would not recommend to a person who is not good with a toolbox. | |

Good product, especially if on sale
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I bought this on features ... and price. [$] off seemed to make this a great deal. The larger pole diameter and larger backboard were exactly what I was looking for as compared to similar models and prices. The instructions weren't perfect but good enough I suppose even though the hole/cement/pole ratio seems odd to anyone who helped me with the process. The pole seems to shake a little more than I anticipated but so far it has not been a problem. Good deal overall, but if you can't buy it on sale, choose another system. | |

Backboard shakes!! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| The goal is good for kids, but even though the base is tight in the ground the goal shakes when using the backboard. At 6'5 235lbs I'm scared to dunk, because I think I'll break it. | |
