The Lowa Men's Jannu Lo Hiking Shoes won Outside Magazine's 2006 Gear of the Year Award, and we can see why. These lightweight hikers feature Lowa's proprietary SPS system, which prevents over-pronation and supination while you walk. This reduces fatigue, helps your knees and legs, and makes shouldering a heavy pack a bit more bearable. Pair this system with a close-to-foot fit and supportive EVA midsole, and you get an incredibly stable hiking shoe that's comfortable for the long haul. The Jannu Lo Hiking Shoe's split leather and Cordura upper gives you the durability to take on burly trails, and its low-cut Vibram Pinto sole delivers backpacking stability and traction on all types of terrain.

Great shoe, that is if you get one of the original generation. By that I mean that Dansko lost their patent on this shoe from the original company, Sanitas, about a year ago. Since then they have had to change their last, and it no longer has that great arch and the patented "rocker" bottom. If you want this great traditional comfort fit, then look for shoes that have been "on the shelf" for a year or so or look for Sanitas (the original comfort clog) at your local retailer. You'll be much happier. Also, these shoes all run a bit small. I wear a true 10 1/2 but wear a size 42 Dansko (equivalent to 11-11 1/2) and it is barely long enough. I love the Hickory Cabrio, looks great with everything from denim skirts to dressier outfits.

Love the Construction, Quality A+

The Jannu Lo feels semi-tight at first but the padding is firm and requires some time to form to your feet. Once your feet are formed to these shoes you tighten the laces they have as much arch support as good quality backpacking boots. I will be taking them off (LO) when crossing water. They suprised me how the toe area is firm for kicking into whatever hard pack snow you run across. These soles do not flex like some others and remind me of great quality mountaineering boots as they have a rigid disposition. They do flex just the right amount for a 50 lb. pack, my feet did not get tired. Mine were made in Italy. Thumbs Up for the Quality

Great Shoe, not sized like other Lowas - I have been wearing size 12 Renegades for 7 years, so image my surprise when I ordered size 12 Jannu and found them to be too big. I sent them back and ordered the size 11.5. My supper feet, which are cut to fit a size 12 Renegade, or any other size 12 shoe for that manner, fit perfectly in the size 11.5 Jannu. So as far as can tell they really are sized incorrectly. I also have a size 12 pair of Solera that fit me great, so it’s not just a renegade’s size versus Jannu size issue.

Great Buy - I wasn't thrilled with spending this much for shoes, but I'd grown tired of the poor quality footwear by so-called high-end brand names. The reviews I had read for the Jannu were all positive so I placed my order. The boots are great, I've been wearing them for a month and very pleased. My only complaint is the color options produced by Lowa could be improved but the quality and fit make them well worth the $$$.

Great Shoes! Got these the other day and although they were a bit more than I wanted to spend, I was glad I did. They are so much better constructed than the Chinese-made stuff out there. They are also leather lined and feel wonderful. They are sized as marked, but remember to get them with enough wiggle room for thicker sox, etc. I wear an 11 in a dress shoe, so I ordered the 11.5's and they fit very nicely.

Insanely perfect shoe... what more can I say - It's like these are a bespoke pair of light hiking shoes. As if a mold of my feet were made and these shoes were constructed around that mold. Leather lined on the inside from heel to toe, very sturdy and lots of lateral support. These are the perfect lighter weight hiking and walking shoe. Who knew that a nice pair of Italian shoes would be a pair of Lowa's. :-)

Lowa Jannu Lo, Excellent Trail Hiker - Used the Salomon XA Pro 3D as a trail hiker and was a little disappointed with the traction. Perhaps it is a little unfair to compare the two as the Lowa Jannu Lo is not an off-road running shoe. As for sizing, I took an 11.5 in the Salomon and a size 11 in the Lowa - true to size / true to width. Cheers.

Almost perfect - Although very stiff at first they are very comfortable and clearly very strong and do not get too hot. Perfect for long walks and day hiking. One problem that I have is that socks do not slide against the inner surface and get pulled very tightly against my feet. I have to leave an inch of space at the toe in order to get them on comfortably.

Very, Very Nice

I've used the Jannu Lo on very long Search & Rescue missions while carrying extremely large amounts of gear through the mountains, and they've been comfortable every step of the way. No slipping, no pain or blisters - the leather interior conforms to your foot after a decent break-in period. Lowas are the only boots I depend on in the field, and the Jannu is no exception.

Bought these 1/2 size smaller than usual and found that to be perfect advice. These need a good break-in, but are amazing thereafter. Very solid, look great, terrific traction/arch support, boot-like sense of protection, sneaker-like breathability. The laces can be somewhat sensitive; once you find a good tension for front laces v. rears, you can get them to feel like a glove.

Not so bad, but ...

I have used them on 5-days hiking (with some breaking done beforehand)and my feelings are somewhat controversial - sole is really very good and has really great traction (exactly as Ozzy said), leather lining is very comfy, but toe part is somewhat too narrow (at least for me) and contains excessive amount of stitching causing excessive pressure and rub on upper part of toes, especially on descends. As well toes area is not so well protected from impacts - I have injured my big toe by (unintentionally) hitting the stone. Hit was not so hard but toe is somewhat blue till now.

My wife started that trip as well in Jannu Lo (Women) shoes but has to gave them up after first day due to unbearable pain in right ankle. Then we bought for her a pair of Meindl hiking shoes in the first shop sports gear shop that we found and next 4 days were trouble free.
