needs a sturdier structure so the bottom dosent have a chance to screw off and falll in the wilderness like mine did and never be able to find it. i did use the spare bulb that i still have atached to my wallet chain hook. i put it in another maglite i have that small but its got a wider face. the bulb fit but i found out why i baught the new mini, its because the old one's broke . and now the new one's gone! i suggest a clip of some sort of mecanizim to lock it in with moving parts instead of threds and bolts and nuts.

It's time has passed....

The Mag Solitaire was groundbreaking when it was introduced many years ago, but now it's been eclipsed by better lightsthe light produced by the Solitare is a dim, sickly yellow characteristic of an underdriven incandescent bulb, the battery life is short, when a Soli is "done" with the battery, there is still about 40-50% power left that can drive an LED flashlight (like the Dorcy 1AAA or Arc AAA series)the vaunted Mag "focusing" beam is beyond useless on this light, on "flood", there's a huge hole in the center of the beam, surrounded by a dim orange spill, on "spot" the light is usable, barely, it has dark swirls and voids and is a very tight hotspot, it's just plain uglythe light uses "Type 2" anodizing, and type 2 ano does *NOT* hold up well to life on a keyring, in a few short weeks, the Soli will be riddled with scratches and gouges, looking like it's been through a warthe Solitaire also has a tendency to unscrew itself when kept on a keyring [...]), in short, the Solitaire is a very poorly designed light, if I could have given it zero stars, or negative stars, i would have, the Solitaire is best avoided entirely, NOT RECCOMENDED AT ALLthe Solitaire's time has passed, it's outperformed by everything else out there, even the cheap .99¢ "Photon-style" squeezylights outperform the Solitaire, they produce a far better beam, and have a much longer runtimeMag Instrument should either update the Solitaire to LED, or just drop it from their line entirely, in it's current incarnation, it's absolutely useless
