It Changes Everything!!

| *** This thing should be Classified*** First I'd like to comment on the initial impression in the package, this thing looks pretty big and bulky but once you put it in your hand it's really pretty light and practical. Once you add the weight of 3 AA's that's about it. The first thing I noticed on the construction was the rubber behind the light and on the inside of the battery pack. This light stays in place. The battery compartment was a fitted style rubber housing that should seal out a moderate rain. Next is the candle power, this ranks second to none hands down WOW factor! The rotating bezel is great and will work fine with gloves and doesn’t torque side to side when using it. The ON/OFF switch is great first click. low power second click.. medium and third click... wholly cow. The focused and wide angle beams are really 100 times better than a Petzl Duo. The only bad thing I found was with the use on a Petzl helmet the head lamp clips can be a bit of a pain with a dual adjustable head band on the ZOOM. I've used allot of lights and this one is spendy but I think if your going out at all at night you'll agree with this review. | |

Saved my life!! | |

| Imagine that you are hiking in complete darkness, using only your trusty headlamp as a light source. You hear a noise in the distance or hear brush being crushed by an animal's footsteps. Being able to zoom in and focus your headlamp would be a nice feature to have right? We were hiking Cactus to Clouds (Palm Springs) and about 1/2 way into the hike I spotted what looked like a reflector post in the distance. I was the only one able to see it since I was able to use the zoom feature. The reflection turned out to be a mountain lion's set of eyes. When it turned to run to the right, I was able to track it. Never had I seen something move this fast and silent. Not a sound was heard! And when it turned back and towards us, that's when we decided to change our route. We figured that there must be cubs nearby. We regularly start our hikes at 11pm so this light is a huge asset. I strongly recommend it. | |

| This light is very bright and the "zoom" feature is awesome. I very rarely use anything other than the lowest light setting as this seems to be plenty of light. I like the adjustment tilt also. The only complaint I have is that it is a bit bulky and heavy which can get a bit uncomfortable after prolonged use. I've learned to wear it higher on my head which doesn't hurt nearly as much. It also has flashing red lights to the rear which are great if you have people following you or if you need to warn people that you are in front (riding/walking on a road). | |

Good light to be worn on a helmet!

| Only owned this 1 day. Seemed cool in theory. Zoom function works great--nice wide spot that can be narrowed to a far reaching spot (square pattern). Pretty light weight, seems like good construction. However, Mammut overlooked one important aspect of headlamps. Comfort. The front of this light there are two tiny little rubber pads where the light contacts your forhead. This seems like a great idea to keep the light from moving around if you are jogging or something as they really dig into whatever they are against. However, Pressure=Force divided by Area. Since the contact area is so small, there is a ton of pressure on your forhead. Those two rubber pads dig in, leaving big marks on your skin and giving you a headache. Good effort Mammut but send this back to redesign please and make it comfy to wear for hours on end. This would be a great headlamp if its going to be on a helmet all the time. | |
