| The only reason I might return this item is because of the velcro. I usually refuse to buy jackets with velcro because it tends to snag sweaters and fleece; however, I might make an exception for this jacket. I decided to try it after reading other reviews. I have ordered and returned several products because they turned out to be just overpriced slickers or windbreakers. This jacket is pricey but I think you perhaps get a little more for your money. It is very lightweight but has a nice lining which makes it easy to take on and off over your clothes. The outer fabric is not too sticky and swishy like some rain jackets. It actually has a nice soft feel to it. It will fold up compactly for travel and to stow in my daypack - something you cannot do when traveling with a traditional trench. I am a tall size 8-10 and ordered the medium which fits just great and still has plenty of room to add layers underneath if the weather is colder. Plenty of length in the arms and no belts to lose. Hood rolls up or zips off. You could easily tuck it in a pocket since hoods tend to get in the way when you are carrying a daypack. If I can get over the velcro hang-up I plan to use it for a late spring trip to eastern Europe. | |

| This one's a keeper! After trying both The North Face Grace and this coat, I found I liked this one better. This is designed to be a standalone coat while lighter TNF trench necessitates taking extra layers for when the temperature drops. It's also more slimming because it's streamlined - it looks like a lady coat with a shawl collar when the hood is down. The trick is to go at least one size down and loosen the belt if needed. I normally wear a medium or an 8 and found the XS a little snug on the chest but otherwise fits fine elsewhere. Another advantage over TNF jacket: velcro closures can secure the cuffs and the zipper flap, great for staying warm and dry when the wind is howling. The only tradeoff? As it's a warmer coat, it's much less compressible than TNF which can be rolled up into a small ball (weight-wise, however, Marmot's Destination coat is only 5 ounces heavier). Overall, a classic, well-made coat which should last for years. | |

I had a London Fog raincoat with hood & liner that I loved. However, I went to a fundraiser for a friend who had cancer & someone walked out with my coat sans the liner.

| Going to Italy last week of October & 1st week of November & needed a stylish weather resistant coat of some sort. Didn't want to spend the money for it, but I'm glad I did! The length was perfect. This fit in well in Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples. I was able to layer it when needed & use its hood or zip it off. Had lots of pockets inside for tickets, passport, money etc. They were all out of a small & I hesitantly purchased the XS because I was desperate. I am 5'6", 122 lbs. & it fit nicely. Worth the investment. It is made extremely well. This will last a long time. | |

"AWESOME raincoat!! Dry and Warm!"

| For a particularly cold and rainy summer, this has been the best investment. I can even wear a hoodie under it on cold days and I also have tons of room to move if I'm walking fast to catch the train/subway. It also has these really cool inside secret pockets where you can put stuff that you don't need right now and don't want to get wet (i.e. wallet, i-pod, etc.). The hood is great and I actually like the half-belt thing since the full belts sometimes fall off or cause cinching if you need to be flexible. Phenomenal. But get the black like I did, who wants a dirty white coat? | |

| Perfect for Travel - This lightweight yet warm and waterproof jacket is ideal for travel. The best feature is the fitted styling that makes the jacket look less like outdoor wear and more like a coat you could get away with over evening wear as well when packing space is at a premium. Without the bulk of belts, detailing and extra heavy fabric, you can move more freely whether picture taking, trail walking or cab exiting. It is fitted but moves with you and gives a nice silhouette. When I purchased it, I wished it had been a bit more reasonably priced, but I have found it to be worth every penny. | |

Great coat | |

This is a beautiful coat. It's a really elegant cut, like a traditional trench coat. The length is perfect. I got this to serve as my main walking-around-town winter coat. If I wear a sweater under it it's plenty warm enough for just about any weather where I live in SC, and though it's waterproof it doesn't scream "raincoat." (I keep the hood off it most of the time.) It's very lightweight and has plenty of room to move. By way of comparison, I have the Marmot Furlong jacket in Medium (and can't wear thick layers under it), but this I got in Small and still have enough layering room.

Marmot Destination Jacket

Love this coat. It is stylish, waterproof, flattering as well as light in weight. The waist is taperd so you look like you have a waistline. I love the length as it hits just below the middle of the knee. I am 5"9" so it is nice to find a woman's coat that is long enough for me. I normally have to try to find a man's jacket to get a longer length, but a man's jacket is just not flattering. Would love to see this coat offered in more colors Since it is a bit more fashionable would love to see it in brighter colors

The sizes run true to size. Follow the size guide. I'm 5'2" so the sleeve length will need to be shortened, the jacket length hits about 4" below my knee which I prefer, good coverage. Fabric and construction is excellent quality. The lining fabric is a heavy weight polyester, the interior pockets are large. All stiching is double sewn. The jacket outershell fabric is medium weight, very nice fabric. The hood is a good size, full coverage and comfortable. The style is very fashionable, good for dress up or down. I would highly recommend this jacket.

| Great travel layer - The coat definitely blocks the wind. In Oregon's snow storms I wore this over a sweater and a fleece jacket. This is not a long coat; for heavy snow storms and cold you need layers on your legs as well. I southern California I wear this over my clothes as a rain coat. The hood stays up without fussing. I have another hooded rain coat and the hood is a big fumble to get up and then falls down at will. This coat also packs light and small. I highly recommend. | |

| Sent it Back - I was looking for a rain shell to wear to work to keep me dryer than my jacket shell does. Though this jacket looked nice online, but it was absolutely shapeless. It is really a trapeze shape, which I don't like. The design was not up to par for a Marmot. I went with the North Face Grace jacket instead. Zappos was amazing as ever, though, and I am a customer for life. Thanks!!! | |

Practical but not for petite women
| Rating: | ![]() |
I looked high and low for a rain jacket that was long enough for sitting down in wet areas and stylish enough for city living. I love the Port color of the Marmot Destination Jacket, which I bought based on the stellar reviews. However, I disagree with the other reviewers about the fit. It might be great for a certain body type/height, but I would say this jacket is not for you if you are a size 2 or 4. I'm between 115 and 120 lbs (I fluctuate), 5'3", and this jacket was too big in the Extra Small. The shoulders are much too wide, and the body overall just has too much material in the width. If I used the waist adjuster in the back, it only bunched up and looked weird because of all the excess material. It also does not adjust very small. I tried wearing this over my thick wool peacoat and it was still much too bulky. I'm sure not everyone has this fit problem, but I wanted to send a warning out to other petite women. FYI, I do not have a "slender" bone structure or narrow shoulders by any means. I am medium to robust in my bone structure for my height/weight. It's nice-looking and functional, and I really wanted to love it, but it should fit a range of normal sizes for that price.

| Feminine-ish silhouette. Hood sturdy, face-shielding, coat tail designed so that you can sit & stay dry. Wish it was a few inches longer/covered to the knee when you sit! Cons: positioning and size/shape of the pockets. If you put much of anything (wallet, mobile phone) in the upper pockets, the garment gives you a pot-belly look. Not attractive! Could use a full belt. "Handwarmer"pockets zip (yay!) but are small (boo), so if you stash the wallet or mobile in the pocket to avoid the chunky look, there's not much room left for your hands. Could use some body vents for warm, wet weather in a windy city umbrellas are useless! Runs big, I'm an 8-10 and I had to return the M for an S. | |

Attractive and well made with 1 slight problem...

| I would have to be a gorilla for this jacket to fit me! The sleeves were about 4-5 inches below my hand. I have not had this problem before and don't think my arms are particularly short! Otherwise it would have been a good fit--may run a bit small for some. | |

Nice jacket, but not long enough for me
| Rating: | ![]() |
I decided to return this, despite the fact that it is attractive, because it's just not long enough for me. I like a lower calf-length waterproof raincoat with a hood since I walk so much on my commute (to & from the train stations). This one barely comes to my knees.

It seems a little thin...as if each rain drop would be felt-though you wont get wet. I am not sure it is worth that price.
