Awesome pants

Rating:*****

If my house was on fire and I could grab five pieces of clothing, these would be one. These are fantastic pants and I pretty much live in them during Minnesota's fall and winter. I pull them on first thing in the morning to walk the dog, even down to zero degrees and I'm warm with just boxers. The full zip is great for venting so you can wear them when skiing (they also make a tapered version with a front wind panel of the same nylon). Great for hiking around, traveling, etc. but probably not great for scrambling on rocks, or in heavy rain, etc. as the nylon is not super durable ripstop nor waterproof. The only drawback (to me) is that they're cut a bit full. Get 'em!

Marmot driclime side zip pants

Rating:****

I wore these on a weekend trip in the White Mountains. There were 40 mph winds on top of Mt. Madison, with temps around zero. I wore them with a pair of fleece non-windblock pants over them. I didn't even feel a slight breeze. I also wear a driclime shirt as a base layer and never feel the slightest bit wet even after heavy exertion. A couple suggestions: pants need a fly for when nature calls, and the drawstring closure could be improved but still, I love 'em!

Great Pant

Rating:*****

These are versatile cool and cold weather pants. I wear them over shorts, in anything from 50 to 10 degrees this winter. The factory DWR is very effective. The fit is loose without being baggy. The only minor flaw with these is the draw cord toggle, the spring in it is essentially useless. All four pairs I have seen had the same weak toggle. Marmot will happily send you new, effective ones though. Overall, a great pant!

Super-versitale

Rating:*****

This was a great pant. I brought it up Rainier for my insulation layer. They worked great. On the summit day we started in 15 degree weather and they were comfortable. On the way down it reached 60 degrees and I unzipped the sides to get some venting and was cool immediately. I highly reccommend them. The gusseted knees are a nice feature too. The pants are excellent for general purpose mountaineering and/or ice climbing.

driclime pants

Rating:*****
As with all Marmot products these pants do exactly what they are supposed to do. The driclime pants are a perfect relacement for 2nd layer long underwear. They give the added bonus of blocking the wind and allow easy layering over them. They are also great for wearing around the house and town. I will be buying a driclime shirt or jacket in the near future.

Marmot driclime side zip pants -- WOW

Rating:*****

Every once in awhile a product comes along that is so good you can't help but wonder why no one has come up with it before. Marmot's DriClime side zip pants are such an item, providing superb comfort, wicking ability and very good insulation. Very good wind resistance with a virtually limitless range of ventilation options thanks to the full length side zippers.

"my pant of choice."

Rating:*****
in my opinion unless you are a backpacker who spends time in the rain, there is no need for thicker, heavier gore tex pants that don't breath as well. these pants are wind and water resistant, have full side zips and weigh nothing. they can be worn alone or over insulation.

Love Them

Rating:*****

Had these pants a few years ago, but lost them. They were so great I've been searching for them since. Like the wind shirt, they are very versatile. I particularly enjoy the full side zip. Allows for layering with boots on, even to stick on under a shell if required.

great winter pants

Rating:*****
used these pants in new england for cycling and running...great pants for both...for really cold weather days put a layer of fleece underneath and you'll stay comfortably warm...used them in a snowy cyclocross event and stayed completely dry...great addition to your winter workout gear

Great Pants

Rating:*****

Great fit, great quality. The lightweight lining is warm, but not too much. I use them for everything from snowshoeing or trailrunning on cold winter days to walking the dog. I'm sure that I will buy another pair.

Negative Reviews:

I would not buy

Rating:*

I bought these pants to wear on Mt KIli trip. I made a mistake and sat in them on some rocks is what I am told from Marmot. It shredded the entire seat. I was told that was inappropriate use and would cost me $40 to repair. It would probably work if you did not sit or was only in the snow or used them for running on cool days in New England. Never again. Bye Bye Marmot

Neutral Reviews:

Hm, sorry I wasn't as happy about these as the other reviewers..

Rating:***

Let's start with the pros: very warm, very comfortable fabric. I was looking for just some nice warm pants that i could run in. Perhaps this is not what the pants were meant for, but this is what a gear expert recommended for me! anyways, the problem I had was that my drawstring was broken as soon as I tried to use it. It got stuck at a certain point, and the cord was also ripped after that. My other problem was that the opening at my ankles were simply too large and air was getting in. So I can't wear these, and I'll return them.
