The Marmot Kompressor Plus is a pack that can do double duty - it can shrink bulky items like sleeping bags and down jackets inside your big pack, then become a pack in its own right for peak-bagging side trips and summit pushes. The Kompressor plus is the middle model of the range (between the super-minimal Kompressor and the larger Ultra Kompressor) and features alpine conveniences like twin ice axe loops and a small hood pocket.
Feature list from Marmot:
In April 1971, University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska on the Juneau Icefields on a school project in Glaciology. It was here on the glacier, amongst these students, that the idea of a Marmot club began. To become a Marmot, you had to climb a glaciated peak with another Marmot. One of the rules of the club was that everyone was president. Most of the other rules dealt with the collegiate fascination with bodily functions.
Eric and Dave went on to found Marmot Mountain Works in 1974, and through the years the company made lots of innovations in down jackets, sleeping bags, Gore-Tex apparel, and beyond. Their modest enterprise is now one of the largest and most respected outdoor gear companies in the world, distributed in over 60 countries, and it is still all about the highest-quality, innovative performance products.
The Marmot Kompressor Plus Backpack is a lightweight summit pack that can be used for short day hikes or final pushes to the top. Light technical materials and streamlined construction keep the weight down without sacrificing durability, and the compressible design means you can throw it in your multi-day pack or duffel without taking up much room.
Marmot's Kompressor Plus Daypack is one of the most versatile packs on the market with the ability to be used as a hiking day pack or a packable summit pack. The closed-cell foam back panel provides cushion and light structure to the pack without making it bulky or heavy. Two ice axe loops and daisy chains allow you to get all the gear you need to the places you need them.
The updated Marmot Kompressor Plus pack combines wrap-around compression and ultralight performance with plush comfort and generous volume for a day of outdoor fun. And it packs into its own lid!

This pack it odly shaped and very big volume for an UL pack. i loaded it and all my gear sank to the bottom and the foam pad also folded up and became useless. this pack it a large volume ultra lightweight pack and has to support/form so if that is what you want go ahead but for me it was awful. i used this once and returned it to where i bought it on the way home.
