The Marmot Women's Midweight Bottom uses innovative fabrics that provide breathable warmth as a base-laye. As part of the Upcycle product line Marmot has utilized the discarded waste materials from manufacturing processes in the creation of new products in order to minimize our impact on the environment. Without sacrificing performance this garment has an environmental feel good factor. All fabrics in this series feature a patented bi-component knit construction that uses different yarns on either side of the fabric. This creates two different surfaces: one that is optimized to move moisture away from the skin, the other to dry quickly. Flat lock construction means no side seams for greater comfort. Sized specifically for women to fit your body, not a smaller men's version.

I took this and the top on a 7 day back packing trip to Isle Royale in late September. The temps were between 30-40 degrees every night so I bought this as in camp/sleeping base layers. They were comfy and really warm but I completely disagree with the statement that they keep down the smells (the clothes I hiked in all day smelled better after 5 days than these did sleeping in them for 2). Luckily they dry super fast so I'd dunk them in the lake every night and without soap the funky smell did go away (thank god) but sadly on our last night we had a campfire and after 5-6 machine washings they still smell deeply of burning wood. Total bummer I think next time I will go back to Capilene.
