Dry 'n Lite | |

Purchased this coat for a June camping trip (BONAROO!) in Tennessee. This is supposed to be the lightest, best breathing Gore-Tex you can buy, and you won't find it cheaper than this. I was impressed with how well the jacket vented my body heat, but disappointed by the liner that accomplished this. The liner is rubber-like so it doesn't feel good against your skin on a warm, wet night. This forced me to wear a long-sleeve shirt underneath the coat (or have wet forearms), despite it being 65 degrees.

| I bought this jacket when it first came out(when it was named the Minima) years ago and it has never failed to keep me dry. I needed a jacket that was lite, compressible, and wouldn't make me sweat to death on a hot rainy summer day. This jacket fits the bill and after years of rough wear is still in my bag ready to fend off the next downpour. If you need a jacket with lots of pockets and its just going to hang on a hook until you need it,,, get a differant jacket! But if you need a reliable waterproof jacket that you can carry without the burden of bulk and weight , or a big hole in your wallet, this is my first choice. also I can say that I've always had good experience with all the marmot products I've owned and with any problems I've had being rectified to my satisfaction. | |

"I love this jacket!" | |

| I purchased it a size larger than I needed to fit over a couple layers and a down jacket. I purchased an XL and it fits my 6'3" thin, quickly aging 40 year old body almost perfectly. Arms a tiny bit long in XL for me but the hook and loop on the cuffs take care of that. The bottom of the shell almost covers my butt. It has a few hat adjustments that make the hat fit just the way you like it. It is very comfortable and weighs close to nothing. No water or wind was able to penetrate this shell yet. I couldn't be happier with my purchase of this shell. | |

| I only wear this tech stuff around town, but the performance still matters. And although I hope to not test the ruggedness of any of it, I do think that my experience can testify to the performance. The fit is great. "Angel-wing movement" arms are a huge deal since I have long monkey arms. Angels love monkeys. This jacket is comfortable enough and breathable enough for me to wear all day with short-sleeved shirts. It is really, really light, but the material hangs like and has the look and feel of a shell rather than a pre-cip material. Simple Gore-Tex goodness. | |

| The first thing that made me get this jacket was the fit. I tried it on and it was perfect. It fits great on me without any real layers underneath but I managed to get a light fleece and down sweater under it anyway. Very light and packs down great. I get a little condensation on the seams but other than that the paclite breathes really freak'n well. Nothing fancy but everything just works well. If you want a bombproof shell and don't want to be covered in logos, get this. Seriously, get it. | |

"Holds up and functions well, got what your need."

| The pros: everything you need, nothing you don't. If you cut the handle off your toothbrush, then this is your jacket. Worked to 19,000 feet in the Andes, comfy and packs well. The very few drawbacks I noticed were: the hood is a little tight over a mountaineering helmet, the zipper only goes one way so you can't have your jacket zipped up and zip the bottom up out of the way of your belay device, and the two hand warmer pockets are covered by a backpack waist strap. Overall, mad props. | |

| This JCKT is absolutely sound. Compared to VANS-Mountain Gear's-and Northface's comparable/similar purposed JCKTS, this one would be your best bet for the rainy season whether your in or around town or just kicking it with Mother Nature. It looks like it just came out of the GORE-TEX testing facilities raw simplicity, COOL!! I have the BONFIRE, awesome color. Who needs all the bells and whistles? PROTECTION PERFECTION.., PRICELESS! | |

Good for wet conditions

Took the jacket on a tramping trip in New Zealand in some seriously wet conditions. The jacket held up well and kept me dry (I was the only one in the group to not be wet). Also very light and packs up small. The bottom front pockets are too low and are inaccessible with a pack on.

Great performance and light weight

| This jacket is light, quiet and comfortable. At the risk of sounding silly, the color is attractive and it gets compliments. The pit zips and other zippers all work well, even with mitts. This is the shell that I looked long and hard for. | |

Okay except for... | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
It's a great jacket but does not have a double slider front zipper, and the front pockets are down low where a hip belt from a pack is right over them. Marmot typically puts those front pockets at chest height. Why they did not do that this time I am not sure.... is it designed for walking around some college campus.......? Too bad, it's a tough light weight jacket.....
