| Marmot Super Mica Jacket Waterproof Shell | $199.95 |
I bought this primarily for my daily commutes which in florida summers usually involves a downpour and on a bike, I've gotten caught more than once. The price was a little high but I took a shot at it. It's worked great and kept me dry the whole time. The pit ventilation is really the only type of venting but it's primary job is to keep me dry and it does that very well. I also wear it now on cooler evening bike rides because it does a great job as a windbreaker. It's light, I can pack it for any trip and it's tough so I never worry about it. It's been to Haiti, Guatemala and Costa Rica and kept me dry throughout. Love this jacket, would definitely recommend and would definitely buy another, though I don't think I will need to.
Been looking at this jacket since it came out. Have the Mica too, but I really like the pit zips on this one. Minimal added bulk. Used it on a really wet snowday in Ouray, over my soft shell. Worked great. Breathability as expected...fine. Nice hood over helmet, and good adjustability. I'm usually between Med, and Lg in most jackets..medium usually tight in shoulders on non stretch stuff. Fits like I expected. I got the Lg...
I have a hard time thinking about having $300+ goretex jacket stuffed in bottom of pack with screws, cams etc. This jacket is a great compromise. would definitely buy it again
Well, maybe you could, but not for this price. This is SUPER light weight, and extremely water proof. I have worn this on my bike in downpours thinking I would come home soaked. But I arrive dry every time. This jacket may be breathable, as I do not have anything to compare it to, but it will trap your sweat. I have found that if I just slow down my pace a little I have nothing to worry about though. And then I get to enjoy the rain a little bit longer :-) And Back Country has the best prices!
This is a very nice lightweight rain jacket. It packs down very small and is so light you can take it on any hike.
I like the features: pit zips, multiple pockets, and a nice hood. Some hoods on jackets these days are so big (in order to be helmet compatible), they don't fit well without a helmet. This one fits nice and has good adjustments.
The material is very light, but seems pretty durable.
The breathability is pretty good; good enough for the dry climate where I live.
The fit is contoured and athletic.
Very good, light jacket
The jacket looks great, fits great, and has all the Gucci features of a lifestyle jacket or technical shell stuffed into an ultralight package. While there is some tradeoff in durability for UL products, the material and fixtures of this jacket suggest they will hold up admirably. Obviously this isn't a hardcore bushwhacking jacket, or even one you would necessarily want to wear everyday; however, it is perfect for throwing in your Camelbak, daypack, or keeping on you at all times just in case. It was well worth the purchase.
I've used this jacket on quite a few hikes and backpacking trips now. I am definitely not impressed with the water repellent finish. This jacket wets out within 5 minutes in light rainfall. It is a good windbreaker, but I would never bring it on a trip with more than 30% chance of rain. I use it as a back-up jacket because it is light and packs small. But if I'm expecting rain, I use something more water proof. Also, the only reason this breathes at all is because it has pit zips and vented pockets. I like the technical features, but am very disappointed with the performance. I should note that it has survived quite a bit of bushwhacking without tearing. If only I had bought it from backcountry like I usually do, I'd return it...
Purchased an extra large and had to return it. The upper arm area is way too tight and I don't have big biceps or anything.
