The Marmot men's Super Mica Jacket: This is what you get when you start with the hugely successful ultralight Mica Jacket, bump up its durability, supercharge it with a multitude of pro features, and then bring the whole package in at an incredible nine ounces. Go anywhere; Do anything; Be comfortable.

Backcountry.com
True, the Marmot Men's Super Mica Jacket does feature pro-level weatherproofing, a sub-nine-ounce weight, and enough technical features to drown a space shuttle engineer, but that's no reason to drool on yourself. Instead, reach for this three-season storm shell when you need to save space and weight in your fast-and-light trail pack and you're sure foul weather is on the horizon. The best part? Despite all the attention to the performance, plenty of time was devoted to dialing in the fit. Ok, maybe it is worth drooling over.

Marmot Super Mica Jacket Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I bought this primarily for my daily commutes which in florida summers usually involves a downpour and on a bike, I've gotten caught more than once. The price was a little high but I took a shot at it. It's worked great and kept me dry the whole time. The pit ventilation is really the only type of venting but it's primary job is to keep me dry and it does that very well. I also wear it now on cooler evening bike rides because it does a great job as a windbreaker. It's light, I can pack it for any trip and it's tough so I never worry about it. It's been to Haiti, Guatemala and Costa Rica and kept me dry throughout. Love this jacket, would definitely recommend and would definitely buy another, though I don't think I will need to.

maxp276903 at Backcountry.com on 12/17/2012

Been looking at this jacket since it came out. Have the Mica too, but I really like the pit zips on this one. Minimal added bulk. Used it on a really wet snowday in Ouray, over my soft shell. Worked great. Breathability as expected...fine. Nice hood over helmet, and good adjustability. I'm usually between Med, and Lg in most jackets..medium usually tight in shoulders on non stretch stuff. Fits like I expected. I got the Lg...
I have a hard time thinking about having $300+ goretex jacket stuffed in bottom of pack with screws, cams etc. This jacket is a great compromise. would definitely buy it again

ken johnstone at Backcountry.com on 02/17/2013

Well, maybe you could, but not for this price. This is SUPER light weight, and extremely water proof. I have worn this on my bike in downpours thinking I would come home soaked. But I arrive dry every time. This jacket may be breathable, as I do not have anything to compare it to, but it will trap your sweat. I have found that if I just slow down my pace a little I have nothing to worry about though. And then I get to enjoy the rain a little bit longer :-) And Back Country has the best prices!

Perfect for all outdoor activities....

I have a grandson who plays baseball which begins in spring, well you never know what the weather will throw at you during the transitional change from winter to spring.. So in saying this, I have to express the importance in being able to enjoy watching my grandson play while not over dressing or underdressing for the weather.. This jacket is perfect and would recommend to anyone and I will be buying this jacket for Christmas gifts this holiday season and a few upcoming birthdays.. Could not be more pleased with the quality of this jacket, thank you Marmot...

I have been waiting for this rain jacket for some time. Welded seams, pit zips, perfect fit for a larger guy and fantastic range of motion. I live in Seattle and I have used this jacket in all types of conditions. I will be buying another soon, I suggest you do the same.

A few days were in a complete down pour. As long as the pockets are zipped up you stay dry. I learned that the hard way. Very light. Only problem I've had is pulling one of the plastic tabs off that keeps the end of the elastic, fixed it with super glue.

nemp526178 at Backcountry.com on 12/03/2013

It's very light wt. and easy to pack. I got room to wear another middle layer. I need to test it for waterproofing during the coming Spring.

Well made jacket

Works we'll in the rain.

Negative Reviews:

I've used this jacket on quite a few hikes and backpacking trips now. I am definitely not impressed with the water repellent finish. This jacket wets out within 5 minutes in light rainfall. It is a good windbreaker, but I would never bring it on a trip with more than 30% chance of rain. I use it as a back-up jacket because it is light and packs small. But if I'm expecting rain, I use something more water proof. Also, the only reason this breathes at all is because it has pit zips and vented pockets. I like the technical features, but am very disappointed with the performance. I should note that it has survived quite a bit of bushwhacking without tearing. If only I had bought it from backcountry like I usually do, I'd return it...

I have this shell for over a year now. I use this shell mainly on my bike to go to work. If it is a very light rain, I'll be ok. But if it rains a bit more, I am likely to get wet. Under a downpour, for sure I'm going to get wet. I used it in the mountains this summer and we got surprised by a thunderstorm, I got wet.
This jacket has a good look. It is also very lightweight and packs very compactly. It is also good to break the wind. But I do not trust it to keep me dry. I was very hopeful, I've been a bit disappointed. Now I'm thinking to try eVent or paclite.

airp124618 at Backcountry.com on 08/29/2013

Purchased an extra large and had to return it. The upper arm area is way too tight and I don't have big biceps or anything.

imip358111 at Backcountry.com on 03/22/2013

Neutral Reviews:

Very stylish looking and very light weight.
Unfortunately the fit is very small and narrow on the chest, so had to return it.
