Gearx

The Tamarack is one of the most versatile winter jackets that we carry, functioning both as a ski shell and as a general-purpose coat for everyday wear. Two-layer MemBrain waterproof construction is comfortable to wear and defends against nasty winter weather, while the internal powder skirt keeps snow and wind from penetrating at the resort or on windy city streets. The hood zips off for times when you'd rather do without it.

ABOUT MARMOT

In April 1971, University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska on the Juneau Icefields on a school project in Glaciology. It was here on the glacier, amongst these students, that the idea of a Marmot club began. To become a Marmot, you had to climb a glaciated peak with another Marmot. One of the rules of the club was that everyone was president. Most of the other rules dealt with the collegiate fascination with bodily functions.

Eric and Dave went on to found Marmot Mountain Works in 1974, and through the years the company made lots of innovations in down jackets, sleeping bags, Gore-Tex apparel, and beyond. Their modest enterprise is now one of the largest and most respected outdoor gear companies in the world, distributed in over 60 countries, and it is still all about the highest-quality, innovative performance products.

finally got one

i finally got one. since this thing was half off i couldn't resist. i've been wanting a marmot jacket for a long time but could never bring myself to spend the money. i love this jacket. i'm 5'11 150lbs and i usually have a hard time finding a jacket to fit my long arms and skinny body, this jacket fits perfectly. i could go on and on about it but you deffinitly get what you pay for, my only wish is that they had an enclosed inside pocket as well as the mesh. worth full price but i'm stoked i got it half price, thanks campsaver!

Great Jacket

I was looking for a new jacket for skiing and commuting to work. This jacket works great for both. I plan on getting a zip in fleece at some point but have been layering with my current fleece which also works great. I've used this in the snow and rain and have stayed dry and warm. I got it in black so I can use it for skiing and casual wear and am very happy with the look.
I'm 6' tall and 190lbs. and got a large which fits perfectly with enough room for layering.
Get this jacket, you won't be disappointed.

Another great Marmot product

The Tamarack Jacket by Marmot is exactly what I needed for a primary winter weather jacket. It is waterproof & windproof, has just enough pockets and a detachable hood. The collar is a little intrusive on the neck when the hood is rolled and stowed, but tolerable. The sleeves may be long for some. My XL jacket fits well on my frame but somewhat long in the sleeves although it has good coverage (better long than short). Overall this is a high quality jacket and it shows.

Excellent Jacket

I bought this before a week long ski trip to Utah. The 2012 ski season has been unseasonably warm, and I needed a light shell. I am 170 lbs and 5'9" and a medium fits well and allows a couple of layers easily. This jacket is lined but has no insulation. I wore it in early morning 35 degree temps with a base layer, then later in the ay in 40's. The pit zips work well, It is an attractive jacket. It is my new favorite.

Great Shell

I got this shell for my husband. I read that the newer technology is very close to true goretex with the exception of being as breathable. Since he will use it primarily for every day rain wear or over a light fleece in colder temps, this didn't bother me. The cost savings is significant. My husband is 6'3" so the longer fit is perfect! I ended up getting him the large - it definitely runs big.

Great Deal!

My son contacted me from college that his coat was not warm enough this winter and he needed a new coat next year. I was at work, quickly checked Campmor and saw nice jackets on sale for a good price. I ordered his jacket that day and by the next day, he had his new jacket. He says he loves it - Campmor has great service and good quality items. Never have been disappointed.

Perfect so far.

Great for cold, wind-driven rain! This is my first Marmot gear. I am impressed with the quality and attention to details (for example, the way the removable hood is doubly secured and how a flap covers the hood zipper when it is removed). I will look first for Marmot products from now on. (I have not had it long enough to speak with authority about durability; however, it appears like it will be durable.)

Warm, Light, Stylish, and keeps me dry

AT section hiker, camping, walking with backpack. Most noticeable thing for me is how much it keeps my neck (back), and head warm in windy, rainy weather, I don't want to pull the hood down. I use with the Warmlight Fleece Zipin component. At 5'9", and 225 lbs I have to buy the XL , but that is still a tight fit in the chest and abdomen. Also a light jacket to pack.
Otto Phokus at Campmor on 03/03/2012

Great coat but needs sme tweaks

Use this skiing. Love the dry comfortable fit. Very well made. But can't zip up fully when hood over ski helmet. Too tight needs 2 inches of additional material around collar to keep off the face because the zipper scratches chin. Cuffs needs to be wider to fit over gloves easier. One more pocket would have been nice. Plan to use for 15 years or more.
Pete the Skier at Campmor on 03/03/2012

Great jacket!

It was tough to find a compatible insert for this jacket at first. Marmot "says" that their "Caldron & Approach" jackets will zip in but the Caldron is nearly impossible to find in Medium size and the Approach doesn't have the correct zipper. I bought an REI fleece with a large zipper that seems to fit and my Feathered Friends (expensive) down jack fits PERFECTLY.
