Fantastic tent with one minor drawback.. |
| Rating: | |
| Not as pictured, but a very nice tent nonetheless. The actual tent has an additional small pole that cantilevers over the top to hold the sides out, thus making the interior much roomier. (without adding much weight) However the doors are a real downer - they're not as pictured either. They are basically half-circle shaped, with the flat side at the bottom. The problem is that there is just one continuous zipper around the curve, and none across the bottom. This is a minor drawback, but it means that you actually have to zip the door quite far open before you can begin getting in or out - a clumsy design sure to let in any bugs that are looking for a free meal. That said, it is a great tent, and a spectacular one at such a reasonable price. The construction, although Made in China, looks very good, with attention to detail and very nicely taped and sealed seams. The clips that attach the tent to the poles are plastic, so I have some concerns about their longevity, but this is coming from someone who has only ever owned continuous sleeve tents. The best feature for sure is that the walls are mesh, so condensation isn't a problem, and it makes for fantastic fair-weather stargazing. (although not very private if in a campground!) One other thing worth noting was the lack of directions. Although I'm not a good direction-follower anyway, there really weren't any at all, aside from "set up tent." And oddly the tent doesn't appear on Marmot's website. strange. On the up side, the included stakes are nice, with a hexagonal cross section and anodized orange. Overall a great find. I'd been casually looking to replace our tent for the past year, and this seemed like the perfect fit. Great tent, roomier than our old two-person (now fits me, wife, & dog plus our gear...). Also I was well impressed to find such a quality name at this price - Marmot stuff is fantastic - even after the buyout by K2. I'd highly recommend this tent to anyone, and if the doors only had a zipper on the bottom as well, I'd give it 5 stars. |

Solid 3-season Tent |

| This is my third piece of Marmot gear, and I continue to pleased with their quality (I have a rain jacket and backpack from them, both have lasted several years with moderate use). This tent recently underwent a 2-week car camp through the Southwest with a full range of weather conditions and held up well. Pros: 1. this size has plenty of room for two adults plus gear inside the tent. Vestibules are plenty roomy for a pack, and keep stuff dry too. 2. ventilation is great 3. Dual entry is awesome. 4. Easy to set up, even for one person, and components are sturdy and easy to adjust once set up. 5. Tent kept us dry even through a full night of steady downpour 6. Perfect backpacking tent for 2 if you're willing to split the gear between to packs. Cons: 1. Because of the mesh,it's pretty much impossible to keep the main tent dry if you're setting up in rain. This would be even more difficult with only one person. With two people, you can have the fly ready to go and avoid too much water in the main tent. Once fly is up, you're good to go. 2. Again because of mesh, I don't recommend it for lots of camping in dusty areas with high winds. The fly provides excellent wind blockage and held up to gusts of up to 50 MPH on our trip, but the fine dust came right in under the gaps and through the mesh. 3. Mesh prevented most condensation problems, but on really frosty mornings when the condensation under the fly would melt, it would drip onto the mesh and "rain" into the tent. As this is only a 3-season tent and we were camping in 34-32F/0-1C degrees in some places, I don't consider this a big issue as the tent is primarily designed for higher temps. |

Marmot puts all the pieces together! |

| You can't just have one tent. you really need several. They are like staying in different hotels depending on your destination. This special edition marmot which I heard was made exclusively for the trading post is a great one person mega house, very cosy for two, and good for three only if its an extra babe. Easy everything. Obviously with the full screen siding its not the tent for the wind driven sands of the desert climes, but for beating the typical summer heat and having excellent ventilation you can't do better. Wind and rain, easy push for 3 season work. Set up time can't be beat. Nor can the price. And those complaints about no included ground sheet, well just call up Marmot and order the ground sheet for their Limelight 3, which has the exact floor dimensions as this tent, in fact looks like the follow up to this "prototype" with changes only to reduce the full screen siding and add a view window in the fly. The dual doors and double vestibules are great extras with no real sacrifice to weight. This is now my perfect car-camping tent. Strider. |

So far, so good. |

| First off, I have not been able to use this product camping yet. I received it in the mail and decided to set it up in my backyard. I've read many reviews stating that this tent is too cramped and not long enough for a 6 foot tall person...these people must be crazy. I am 6'3" and when I lay down in it I still have plenty of room. I admit 3 people may be a little cramped in this tent but as far as 3 man tents go, this is one of the biggest I've seen. 2 people and a large dog would fit very comfortably in this tent. The material the tent is made out of seems very durable, much what I expect from Marmot. I set the tent up easily by myself in less than 10 minutes. As far as tents go, I highly doubt anyone can find a tent of this size and quality for the price. I am very much impressed. |

| We have two of these tents. My wife and I stayed in one while the kids and dog stayed in the other. I followed some advice from an article I saw about buying tents and it was definitely true in that a 3 person tent can really only hold 2 people. My wife and I are very average size and there is no way anyone other than a small child was going to fit in the tent with us. We were able to have enough room for the two of us and our packs, but that was about it. The tent is very easy to set up. In fact my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter had the entire tent and rainfly set up in about 5-8 minutes. We did have a lot of condensation inside the rain fly, but it was an unusually cool weekend and there was a lot of moisture in the air. |

| Perfect tent. It would however be cramped for three people. I bought this one for me and my husband. It was really inexpensive so I was worried that it would be cheaply made. However - we have used this tent already on two over night rafting trips and it's absolutely wonderful. I can literally set this tent up in under sixty seconds by myself. I love how without the fly - it's just netting and with the fly- we're completely protected from wind and water with two nice vestibules on each side. I do not recommend this tent for three people unless one or more is a child. Two large paco pads fit nicely with extra room at one end for personal gear. There are also a few small pockets for glasses/ contact stuff / head lamp or what ever on both sides. |

Great 2.75 - 3.0 Season Tent! |

| Took it on a ten-day canoe trip in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park. It lends itself particularly well to canoe trips up North. Stood up to two summer thunder storms and a couple of down pours with ease. Sans fly, on clear nights view Northern Lights - no bugs to swat - from "bed". The design has been a blessing in the muggy midwest summer. I've used it for three and four days on the trail in the MO and AR Ozarks Mtn's - hills really - for this reason. It would not be my first choice for longer trips or in mtn. ranges with pointy peaks. More than comfy for two. Wish the doors had double zips. I'd rate it a 2.75 - 3.0 season tent for my purposes. Can't beat the price. |

Nice Tent |

| I just took this tent into the High Uintah Mountains in Utah. The tent is high quality. It didn't rain, but I inspected the seams and they are taped and of course double stitched. Although this tent claims to be a three person tent, there is no way. Maybe 3 little kids, but not three adults. I prefer a bit more room, so this tent is absolutely perfect for two people who want some extra breathing room. The fly was big enough to put our backpacks under during the night. My only complaint is: no footprint. I don't know where to get a footprint for this tent. I've checked online and at [...] without success. We used a tarp and while not ideal, it was just fine. |

Great Tent! |

| Took this tent out for it's maiden voyage on a weekender to Kyle's Landing on the Buffalo National River, and it was everything I hoped it would be. The setup took about 6 minutes by myself in the dark. The fly completely covered the whole tent and has two nice size vestibules over each door. We were car camping, so I was sleeping in it by myself. I have a feeling its like most 3p backpacking tents: sleeps two comfortably, but three's a crowd. It was cold and humid outside, but I didn't have a problem with condensation. I wish it would pack down alittle smaller, but if you're hiking, you'll probabaly split it b/t two people anyway. Overall, this is a great tent. |

Overall a good tent |

| This tent was incredibly easy to set up and take down, and that includes the rain fly. It doesn't come with a footprint, so that is kind of a drawback. So far I have used it once and two average sized women slept in it. While we had plenty of room, it would be hard to imagine a third person that was big fitting in with us. I would probably use this tent for two-person camping plus dogs, or a lot of stuff. It's fairly waterproof as well. When the rain fly is not on it is practically the same as sleeping under the stars, but it keeps the bugs out. |
