Second Favorite Jacket I've Ever Owned.
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This jacket is the second best jacket that I've ever owned, only to my original year REI One jacket. This jacket seems to fit all my outdoor activities perfectly. As a college student in Colorado, it's a great jacket to wear around the campus when the weather gets rough, and has enough of a water resistant finish to keep you plenty warm even in the snow. I wear this often as a ski jacket underneath my ski shell as well. I also recently took this on a three week backpacking trek with me, and the thing couldn't have performed better. It weighs so little, you'd never know it was there, works wonderfully as a pillow when compressed into its own pocket, and is the perfect jacket when that cold storm blows in suddenly at higher altitudes. On a recent summit hike of a 14er, I slipped on a bit of scree and managed to scrape my arm, but there was no damage done to the jacket. The only downsides I see to this jacket are that it is not waterproof, but only water resistant, and the extra fabric around the gut, but being a short guy at 5'7" this routinely happens to me with other jackets so I wasn't bothered. To me, the pros of this jacket for its price vastly outweigh its cons, and I would say it's one of the best jackets I've ever owned no question. | |

Works for me! | |

| I use this jacket for primarily dealing with Chicago winters. It is really lightweight, people are shocked when they pick it up and ask me if it keeps me warm enough (it does). I like that the sleeves are long enough that they don't shoot up my wrists when I extend my arms. I like that the inside of the collar is NOT lined with fleece since my stubble would tear it up. I like that the elastic wrist is snug enough and much better than annoying Velcro closure in my opinion. I think it's clever that the elastic cord to cinch the waist is hidden in the pockets, no more exposed elastic loops to catch door handles. Lastly, the green looks great, I get compliments on it all the time. The only thing I would add is zippered chest pocket on the inside. Overall very happy especially that I picked this up during a sale. I want to also mention I bought this jacket because I ended up returning a similar styled 800 fill power down jacket of a different brand that sounds like "Schmeddie Lauer". The reason I was unhappy was because it was losing feathers constantly. I'm happy to say I have not seen one feather pop out of this jacket so they meant it when they said "down proof fabric" | |

Nice & light | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
The Zeus is a nice lightweight down jacket that takes up minimal room in your pack. The stitching is done well and the baffles are nice and lofty. I just got it so I can't say much about how warm it really is... just that it's too warm to wear in southeast Michigan in August. It does loft higher than the Patagonia Down Sweater, so it should be the warmer of the two.

What it is. | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
What it is, is a high quality, lightweight insulating layer that's suitable for knocking around in, or taking up a small area in a pack for when it's needed. And when that time comes, it does the job nicely. Size med. fits my 5'-11"/145lb body just right that I can get a Polartec 300 fleece layer under. Someone else my size would probably be able to make do with a small, but I wanted something to throw on after a day of hiking/skiing to a campsite. The collar doesn't cut off oxygen, nor let in cold air. Nice inside pockets suitable for bottle(s) and Cliff Bars from freezing aren't usually mentioned, but there's one on each side. It's a great value considering the price & the quality of construction & materials. I wouldn't hesitate to depend on it at -10F with a decent shell and some R1 fleece underneath.

Great so far! | |

| I got this jacket a few weeks ago on sale for a good price. It hasn't gotten too cold yet, but I plan to wear it as my insulating shell for my backpacking trip next weekend when its supposed to get down in the 20's. We'll see how it fares then. But so far, the jacket seems warm, is SUPER lightweight, looks good (which is useful for wearing it around town), and fits well. The first reviewer was right about the little fold in the stomach area when you sit down, but so what? I'm 5'11", 165 lbs. and I'm wearing a medium. In my opinion, giving it 2 out of 5 stars was a little harsh. The sleeves fit perfectly, and the jacket doesn't ride up when I lift my arms. Marmot puts in a little extra material in the underarm area just for that reason, so the jacket moves with me really well without compromising warmth and coverage. Great jacket! | |

Sweet Jacket | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This Jacket is perfect. I tried the North Face and Patagonia down jackets on and I liked the feel and fit of this one the best. I am 5'11" 175lbs. It allows mobility while not being too bulky. The material is really smooth and soft to the touch and very comfortable which I think makes up for the lack of water resistance which is often shiny looking. Besides if its raining just wear it under your shell. I got mine for backpacking in winter and at 20 degrees it was too warm when worn with a base and midweight layer. Only had to wear it in the morning while making breakfast and at night while sitting at the campfire. Its super light and not too bulky but still thick enough to keep you warm. Plus the pocket stuff sac is really nice. The Raven color, in my opinion, is the coolest color. It looks better in person than in the picture.

Wow, what a great jacket!

| I have been a North Face customer since the very early days when they had 4 colors. I just bought this jacket at the store on sale, and I now have a new most favorite brand of jacket in the whole wide world. The warmth vs. weight ratio of this jacket is like nothing I have ever experienced before from any brand of clothing. I commute to downtown in Chicago on mass transportation, and recently the wind chill has been brutally fidgid. With this coat and a couple of decent layers underneath, no problem. Surprisingly even the windchill is not a factor. As an added bonus, a good friend yesterday told me it was "cute", so I am assuming that it is also slimming. My only gripe is the lack of functional pocket storage, which is minor. I am very impressed with Marmot and will now by my outdoor clothing from them as much as possible. | |

Tall and it fits me well | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I am between 6'3"-4" and weigh like 200 pounds. Depending on the brand I wear between a L and an XL (for those of you who are tall you can understand) often times the L is too short and the XL is too big in the chest. This jacket is great. It is light weight, warm, and it does not make one look like a marshmallow... It is kinda fitted. All you could want from a down coat. My one gripe would be that some down comes out, although I do not know what is normal for down leakage...(let me know what is norm) I like it because it is not shiny like many other comparable down jackets. I am a NOLS alumni and only wish that I had this coat on my last trip. Get it

It Fits Me.... And I am not Fat
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have to respectfully disagree with the review below. I am 6'3", 185 and wear a large in this jacket. It fits me perfectly (and I like my jackets/technical clothing in an athletic fit). I do agree that it bunches up someone when you sit down, but the same thing happens with the Patagonia Down Sweater and comparable OR jacket. To me, this fit exactly the same as the Patagonia Down Sweater - the only difference being that the Patagonia has smaller down pockets (see pictures of both). I frankly went with Marmot b/c (in my experience) I have had better luck with durability and better down products. You really can't go wrong with either, but I did want to offer my opinion that this jacket fit me correctly and I am virtually the same size as the reviewer above.

Lightweight shoulder season warmth
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Great lightweight jacket for chilly alpine nights and mornings, or shoulder season camping. The jacket is made from high quality down as advertised, and is both light and compressable as a result. The fabric is also wispy light, which further maximizes the ultralight appeal of this jacket, while down shedding is acceptably low (an occasional feather still pushes through). The angel wing arms also work as advertised, you can raise your arms all the way up without the cuffs riding up your arms, or the bottom of the jacket slipping up your torso. While deceptively warm, considering how light it is, I don't feel this is a good choice as a dedicated, everyday winter jacket. I don't think it's quite warm enough without a couple layers underneath, and shell on top to handle below freezing temps.. | |

Great.. if your Fat | |

This jacket is nearly identical to the Patagonia Down Sweater, which I tried on, but I ordered the Zeus because it was cheaper. The major difference is that the Patagonia jacket is an athletic cut, whereas the Marmot is a Beer Gut cut. There is considerable amount of extra fabric around the stomach. Walking around, I feel like Santa Clause. When you sit down, the jacket creates a large fold in front of you due to the extra material. I've never seen anything like it before. It is not made for a healthy/normal shaped male. I am 6' 180 lbs. I am returning it.

I have another older Marmot Down Jacket that is 800 down fill and this new Zeus is maybe at most 300 down fill. Some baffels don't have any down at all just fabric. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS MARMOT JACKET!!

| This jacket did not have the trim fit I was expecting. Other Marmot clothes have a trim fit, this item did not. I can't comment on the quality, just that I needed something slimmer. | |
