Positive Reviews:

Exceeds my expectations

Rating:****

I'm impressed with the Wintech Ultimate Bike Computer. It is small, clean design, packed with features, easy to use, and reasonably priced. The mileage, elevation, heart rate, is very accurate. However, the accumulated elevation is a little flakey. When setting up the computer, I suggest setting everything up in meters / kilometers and then change to miles. The screens could have been set up a bit better, and I find I'm often pressing buttons to find something on a different screen. However, I recommend it and would buy it again.

Negative Reviews:

Mavic Wintech Ultimate

Rating:*

The altimeter was all over the place and made no sense (I've owned other computers with altimeters and this was the worst). The unit takes up to 10 seconds to stop calculating and is hard to make stop when completed. I couldn't get the odometer to start at zero. There is no available backlight for early morning or night riding. The manual was horrible, and had no troubleshooting section. The worst thing about the Mavic computers is you are stuck with predetermined readout combinations set by Mavic. There is no way to choose the combination of items you want displayed on the readout. The combinations on the 5 screens determined were not logical. I've owned other bike computers where you can determine what combination is displayed line by line, and you can't do that with Mavic. This unit seemed to have so much promise with the built in skewer sensor, but failed miserable in delivering a usable and worthy bike computer.

Documentation, setup, reliability, accuracy all questionable and need room for improvement.

I replaced my previous Wintech w/Cadence with the HR/ALT/Ultimate model. It did not come with cadence transmitter and I wanted to use my previous Wintech one. Nope, not recognized. I measured the voltage on the CR2032 as 3v but I have not tried a new battery (pain to remove as it is on post, adhesive and zipped tight).

I'd like to see a simpler interface (I don't have patience to push 3x, then hold, then this button, then hold while riding...), bluetooth instead of 2.4Ghz (wifi uses 2.4ghz, oh the interference...), backlighting (it's not always high noon)....

Because the cost is now getting on par with the likes of Garmin 3xx series and other computers are now going rechargeable with micro-usb to record data, configure, save settings...something to consider.
