Great shoes, squeaks but easily fixable
I actually have an earlier version of this line of shoes from several years ago, with suede upper. I've worn down the outside heel rubber but the upper still looks really nice, and they're just so comfortable I dont' want to throw them away just yet. But like other reviewers mentioned, these shoes squeak after awhile and I used to think it was coming from the outsole, but I just came across a review by bassr and that made me realize the squeak was coming from the insert rubbing and moving against the pig skin lining in the heel which has been worn smooth. He fixed the problem by apply moleskin to the insert so its not rubbing the heel lining anymore. I just used electrical tape instead of moleskin and just like that the noise is gone! And the electrical tape is so thin it won't change the shoe's fit at all.

Great Quality Shoe
This product is noisy when you walk; it has a slight squeak that has been driving me crazy for the past 4 weeks. I told myself I would tough it out because the quality, look and feel were all perfect. I needed a shoe that I could wear out and about in the winter time besides running shoes and sandals.
Thanks to another user who reviewed these shoes and recommended that mole skin be applied to the back between the heel and the insole. It completely removed the squeak.
I gave the shoes a 4 star rating because I still feel that a squeak as obtrusive and annoying as this one for $100+ dollars should have been fixed before it was sold to the consumer. Regardless there were no other shoes that fit and felt quite like these.

Great shoe! Worthless insoles...
A great pair of shoes! I love them. I read the reviews before purchasing about the squeeks; I tried them on in the store and no squeeks; wasnt 5 minutes outside the store and they started; but I was prepared, I had an old set of factory in soles from my Vasque boots that I had removed when I put in my Superfeet for hiking; I put the Vasque factory insoles in and perfect; Dont know why Merril ships such a low quality insole; all you have to do is look at it and rub it with your fingers to see it is made from cheap material; But dont let the in soles keep you from buying these shoes

Durable, Reliable shoes
I bought these shoes for a backpacking trip through Europe. I wanted something that was kind of nice but also comfortable and suitable as my only pair of shoes for a month. I'm quite satisfied with their performance, they were comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time and they show little or no wear after a couple months.
Some of the other reviewers mention that they're noisy. This is true, but it's cured by a simple switching of insoles. I did this, as well as adding a coat of wax for waterproofing.
If you're willing to switch out insoles, these are great shoes that are comfortable, durable, and look nice.

Awesome shoes
These have been my everyday shoes for two and a half years now. They are wonderfully versatile; they look great with everything from jeans and a t-shirt to business casual. They are amazingly comfortable - the best shoes I have ever had in that respect. I have worn my first pair nearly every day for two and a half years, walking about two miles a day on pavement on average, and they are still going strong. I would recommend them to anyone, and I already bought another pair to replace the one I have now when they wear out - whenever that may be!

Great Shoes!
I couldn't help but noticing all the issues with squeaking shoes in the posting. Yes, my shoes started to squeak a short time after wearing them, but I found an easy fix that will work for any squeaky shoes you may have not just Merrell's. The squeak in my case is coming from the heal insert and the sole of the shoe. All you need to do is place a strip of moleskin tape between the insert and the sole on the heal on both sides and this problem will disappear. Hope this helps.

They are brown, they are shoes.
They aren't actually brown, but rather a sort of dull brown/green/gray/tan - exactly what I was looking for. Right out of the box they look like you've already walked in them from Marrakesh to Tangier, while still somehow looking brand new.
Light and comfortable, good construction, stitched on rubber soles, the good leather uppers squeaked a little for the first few days as leather shoes often do.

Comfortable
These are very comfortable shoes. I wear them minimum of 5 days a week for about 12 hours a day. They have good traction, look good for business casual dress. However, they make lots of noise. The noise is more of a creaking instead of squeaking. Its both shoes, every step and done this the entire time I have owned them. I have owned them for about 4 months.

Geat Shoe
Looks great and feels pretty good. I am a size 13, but the shoe was loose. So I went with a size 12 and it is a little tight but will hopefully loosen up. One shoe does squeak a lot which kind of makes it awkward when walking around a quiet office.

Awesome Shoes
Very Comfortable shoe. Since I have a large foot I can't be too picky when it comes to shoes. I usually ask what comes in my size and make a choice but this time I got an extremely comfortable shoes with a little style too. Great Choice
