Metolius has designed a new generation of extended-range cams, and they are improved in every way. The Supercam has extended the camming range well past that available with other designs while still retaining the increased holding power and safety that can only be achieved with the smaller cam angle of 13.25°. This safer cam angle increases the outward force by a critical 10% over other brands with larger cam angles. The cam faces have more than 30% extra contact surface compared to other brands, making rock fracture much less likely. The new aggressive, ratchet-style (Shark Fin) tooth pattern helps to set the cam during the initial load up event of a fall. The Supercam is a perfect example of their underlying design philosophy: safety, simplicity, reliability and long-term performance.

Sweating the guesstimates of proper placement can be a pain unless you have the range finders on these asymmetrically-shaped SuperCams from Metolius. The company carefully machined the SuperCam with offset small cam lobes that pass within the arc of the larger lopes, giving the SuperCam more effective use of the entire cam spiral. The enhanced cam angle and precision spring tension also creates substantial outward force that is combined with the wide cam face for plenty of grip in a variety of spaces. Available in three sizes, each SuperCam has a range finder that instantly tells you if you have the right cam for the right spot in the rock.

After 30 years of camming, Metolius® engineers have reinvented active pro improving range and performance.

The Metolius Supercam has asymmetric cam lobes give almost twice the range of conventional cams. Radical new spring technology gives precise, equally-tensioned trigger pull throughout the entire range and a Range Finder tells you at a glance if you've chosen the right size cam for the placement.

The Legendary Super Cam from Metolius employs a ground-up redesign and a radical asymmetric construction to give incredible range and outward force (the most crucial element in holding strength) in larger cams. A color-keyed range finder lets you know immediately if you have the proper placement, and bomber aluminum keeps you safe.

The Metolius Supercam fits in a drastically larger range of cracks than normal camming devices. After two years of design and testing, Metolius unveiled an unprecedented asymmetrical design with different sized cam lobes. The smaller lobes rotate faster than the larger ones, allowing a full 270-degree rotation. This lets the Supercam use the normally untouched back side of the cam lobe for a drastically increased range of use. The trigger wires are made of easily replaceable Kevlar cord instead of wire, making the individual cam lobes free floating so they conform perfectly to the rock.

The Metolius Supercam is a new generation of cam design. The asymmetrical design gives the Supercam almost twice the range of traditional cams and increased stability. Metolius has optimized the camming angle so that it increasing outward force and holding power. These are a great all-around cam for larger cracks.

A better design for medium and large cams.

| nice design and covers a big range. the ultimate panic peice! contrary to everything else ive heard, i find its not that hard to get it stuck. almost lost it a couple times before it finally got stuck for good in the sierras. only cam ive ever gotten stuck and i find my C4's are waayy less prone to getting stuck. but maybe its just me | |

Great Cam! | |

For some climbs i'll want a lighter rack so i'll replace my 7 and 8 Powercams with a Small of Medium Supercam. This cam has an incredibly large range because of the a-symmetrical shape of the cam itself.

Cool idea | |

Great concept but the range isn't all that spectacular. The small size has only a slightly larger range than the #2 Camalot, the medium is about a #3 and the large is about a #4. Another dilemma is that when you fully compress it, the cam lobs are pretty long meaning you need a pretty deep crack. The Super Cams are priced about the same as the Camalots, but they are slightly heavier as well. So between Super Cams and Camalots I'd stick to the C4's, even though these look so much cooler while compressing.
