Montbell U.L. Down Pants -
A necessity for extending stays in the high alpine.
Round out your winter mountaineering kit with a down jacket and the six-and-a-half ounce Mont-Bell Ultralight Down Pant packed with 800-fill goose down. Montbell used highly-packable insulation and compressible shell material to craft these insulated pants, leaving you little reason to leave them behind when the weather hints at sub-arctic temperatures at night. Rather than carrying heavy fleece pants, or simply going without, treat your legs right, because after all, you're going to need them to get home.

Fabric:

  • Single-quilt construction reduces weight and stuffs easily into your pack or pocket
  • Ballistic Airlight nylon shell means durability and packability without a weight penalty
  • 20-denier rip-stop nylon
  • Sewn thru construction

Wash and Care:

  • Standard 25-wash rated DWR treatment

Insulation:

  • 800-fill goose down means lightweight, highly-packable insulation that lofts easily after being pulled from your pack

Weather and Wind:

  • Polkatex DWR coating repels light moisture and precipitation outside

This family of products continues to delicately balance the characteristics that define reliable ultra-light apparel. For example, the U.L. Down Jacket weighs less than most cotton T-shirts, blocks a deceptive amount of wind, while compressing to the size of a 32 ounce water bottle. Specifically designed as a replacement for the heavy and bulky fleece garments used by many backcountry enthusiasts, the U.L. Down Series is “what you need” when warmth is critical, minimal weight is paramount, and space in your pack is at a premium.

Reviews:

I'm 5'9" female. I love and reach for these all the time. They are definitely among my top favorite outerwear purchases this year.
I think Montbell is a great company and I look forward to their future. I've read some dissatisfied customer complaints about their ultralight down jackets shedding the moment they get them. For as often as I've used these in a month, I have not noticed a remote problem.
Pockets would be nice but i'm not resentful. Pockets are just nice on everything.. next generation maybe :)

Light and Warm

I use the Mont Bell Ultra Light Down Pants to extend the temperature range of my sleeping bag, sitting around the campfire on a cold night, and as a mid-layer. I recommend wearing a pair of wind pants over the MB Ultra Light Down Pants for added protection against dirt and abrasion. These pants are extremely light and pack well.

Warm as toast!

When the cold weather shows up,I get out my UL Down pants. If nothing else to wear around the house other than turning the heat up.When I go camping in the winter, them and a pair of long johns is more than enough to keep you toasty warm.

All That's Missing is the Right Size

To keep warm and block the wind. Great for that but the correct size is not available!!
