Montrail Splitter Climbing Shoe

Men's Footwear > ClimbingRated: 3 by 3 reviews.

USOutdoor.com

The Splitter is designed to hold your foot in a comfortable neutral position for dexterity and mobility in crack climbing, long routes, and all-day comfort. However, due to the construction design and upper materials (unlined leather), the shoe can be worn tight, stretching to fit, and putting the foot into a high-performance power position. The toe shape is more symmetrical, which accommodates a toes-flat position better than an asymmetric toe shape. The toe shape also works well for Morton's toe (second toe longest) foot types. The last is flat and the heel narrow, allowing the shoe to lace up snugly on even the narrowest of feet. The upper is 1.7 mm suede with synthetic lacing overlays for support and control. The lacing extends far down the toe for volume adjustment over the whole length of the foot. The toe rand covers the high abrasion areas and protects the laces from the highly abrasive scraping and tearing of cracks (and rock in general). The midsole is 1mm Texon, providing a high degree of sensitivity and allowing the shoe to break in nicely.

Cracks destroy your shoes, plain and simple. So Montrail designed the Splitter Climbing Shoes with burly leather uppers and high rubber rands to take the abuse. From finger cracks to sinker hands to Oh Dub, this shoe provides the support you need for pitch after pitch without your feet going numb. Gryptonite soles provide serious friction in the Valley or at the Creek, and the unlined leather uppers also give you a precision feel when it’s time to get it done on the face climbing pitches.

Positive Reviews:

Good grip

Rating:****
I did not know they were thermoformed, gives me a little afraid to enter the kiln. The grip is fantastic, after the best Boreal climbing shoes I have. Please note: Transipiran feet long

Good grip!!!

Rating:****
The grip is excellent and the comfort is worth noting in this footwear. The only drawback is that transpires in a lot, but it is recommending a shoe.

Negative Reviews:

Splitting is exactly what these shoes did.

Rating:**
I bought them for gym climbing and as soon as I took them outside, they began to fall apart. I had them for around a month and the rubber on both of the toes split wide open. I bought them because they were so cheap, and I soon found out why. Save your money and buy a quality shoe.
