High expectations mostly exceeded

I had an EMS Gore-tex shell for about ten years that was still in great shape when I decided to finally replace it with this jacket. It was a good move. This jacket is lightly insulated which I wasn't expecting. It makes an enormous difference for the better.

The waterproof zippers are fantastic, and the pockets make great hand-warmers due to the extra insulation in them. The quality of the shell is good. The only thing it's missing is a powder bib. But this jacket cinches as the waist, and that is probably good enough for skiing in New England. Sometimes, I wish it were slightly longer so it could more fully cover a fleece jacket underneath on those really cold days, but that is only a minor issue. Overall, I am very happy with it.

Awesome Jacket

Wow. Have to say that i am impressed with this jacket. I ordered it with some apprehension about the sleeves being long enough because I have tried on Mountain Hardware in the store and they seem to run short, but this jacket fits my long arms great! The material seems to be very durable and snag-proof. Love the watertight main zipper and pocket zippers. The quality is apparent in the way the zippers function and the arm cuffs are adjustable. Highly recommend this jacket. Won't be disappointed. Can't wait to use its DryQ technology when its wet out.

Awesome jacket

I've worn this jacket for the past week, I gotta say I'm impressed. It's been very windy all week (and cold, living in maine) and I've stayed warm with just a cheap hoody underneath. Took it on a hike with just a t-shirt underneath, about 38-40 degrees with 35 mph winds and I couldn't feel the wind cut through at all. Also very light, barely notice it on. Again very impressed.

Longtime Mountain Hardware Fan - Letdown

Jacket was used for basic outdoor colder weather activities. Had it only a few months before I noticed seams on pocket ripped. Then the zipper went from casual use. Just seemed cheap, especially frustrating since I paid a few hundred for the jacket just a few months ago. I need to get back to EMS to get a replacement.
I hope MH is not cheapening their stuff.

Poor Quality

I purchased this product for light use around town and walking the dog. In 2 months the zipper on the pocket tore from very casual use. Disappointed with the quality of the product seeing in how I was only wearing it casually. This is the second MH jacket (one rain) I have purchased in the last year that gave me issues.
