beautiful tailored fleece

Rating:*****

This is the nicest fleece I have ever seen - all the interesting details (stitching in a contrasting color, hidden zippered pockets, etc.) I love the "tailoring" (who tailors a fleece!?) so it looks feminine, not sacky like most fleeces. The color lemongrass is much darker, greener, and richer than it shows on this website. It is warm and very soft. Fits perfectly. (I wear a 12 and bought a Lg.) Have not washed it, since I got it yesterday, so cannot comment on that. Saw it for $160 in a store last week, ordered it from Backcountry outlet for $79 with NO shipping or tax and got it in 3-4 days!

sheebeest at Backcountry.com Outlet on 08/20/2009

Super nice fleece, not windbreaking

Rating:****
What stands out about the fleece is it has stylish stitching and the addition of some different fabric on the collar and inside that makes it look nice and also more substantial. Really nice pocket placement and the fleece fabric is awesome - super soft and cozy, and has a clean look. Very high-quality. I got the fleece for chilly morning dog-walking and to layer under a shell. Good thing I took two fleeces camping because this one isn't warm enough alone - the wind comes right through.
NYC Hiker at Sierra Trading Post on 10/22/2009

Great fleece, very cute, fits perfectly!

Rating:*****
I work outside in the woods during spring/fall/summer, but plan on using this more for going around town and keeping warm in my freezing office during the winter. In my opinion, it's more of a casual/cute piece than a windproof technical fleece, but then I wasn't expecting it to be windproof since the description never says that it is. I'm very happy with it--it looks great, is very warm, and it fits perfectly. The arms are long, but that's great for me, since I'm 5'10".
Junebug at Sierra Trading Post on 09/12/2009

Would buy again

Rating:****
Warm and comfortable and great styling. Perfect for chilly autumn or spring days. Sleeves are a little long but I always have problems with sleeves. They don't get in the way at all. Lots of pockets, the one complaint would be that the pockets at the waist are hard to open/close with just one hand. I find I have to pull down/hold the bottom of the jacket with my other hand while zipping the pocket up or down(which is difficult if I am holding something).
Wiggles at Sierra Trading Post on 03/22/2009

So warm

Rating:*****
Perfect for a layering system. It's not water resistant or wind proof, but warm. So it would be great for an insulating layer or on a dry day. Also perfect for hiking if you need the warmth but want the wind to cool you. The sleeves feel long but I kinda like it.The sleeve goes almost an inch past my wrist. The fit is perfect and actually still gives you the feminine look.
Tricia at Mountain Gear on 03/04/2008

Beautiful and Warm!

Rating:*****
Soft, comfortable, warm and a great fit for my tall, thin body. I love the way this jacket fits, feels and looks. I'm long and lean with very long arms and this jacket fits great. I usually take a small and needed to exchange for a medium so runs small I think. Haven't put it to the challenge yet, but feels very warm and is super cozy and soft inside.
Joan in Reno at Sierra Trading Post on 10/13/2009

Great fit & cozy!

Rating:*****
Great color and fit. I am a short curvy woman, and Mt Hardware small is perfect every time. The jacket is well made, and the design and details are a step above the usual fleece. It is not wind proof, and does not claim to be. It has very nice inner cuffs that are super soft.
Extreme dog walker at Sierra Trading Post on 10/19/2009

do not judge a book by its cover

Rating:****
I had this jacket on my travel trip to Alaska and Yukon, it is very comfortable, trendy, but with no wind resistance in a slightest way..it is more fancy then technical, not for heavy hikers as the protection is not as good as I would expect from this company, otherwise I really like this jacket
the active one at Sierra Trading Post on 08/21/2009

A Very Nice Jacket

Rating:*****

I love this jacket - looks nicer than a plain fleece. Fitted but not tight, and warm without too much bulk. Wore it skiing under a shell and was toasty warm. I get lots of compliments. I am 5'4", bought a Med and don't find it short at all.

Ski Me at Backcountry.com Outlet on 03/20/2008

Warm Base Layer

Rating:****
Bought it for fall use in Northern Michigan. Will use during ski season as a base layer also. Very warm yet not too bulky. Close fit, High zippered neck and cuffed inner wrist bands add warmth. Wish it was a little longer in the waist.

Negative Reviews:

worth $20 in a yard sale - maybe

Rating:*

don't waste your money.
I would have picked NO star but it wouldn't let me.
A very disappointing product from mountain hardware. At the hips it sort of flicks out and that: a) looks really stupid and b) provides no warmth and you find yourself constantly pulling it down for nought. I thought it was a dodgy garment when i first opened it but they were both the same.

It also does not wash well (see other comment).
So not worth the price. If I didn't live in Australia, I'd return them.

snoo at Backcountry.com on 03/30/2009

not worth the price

Rating:*

beautiful coat! but unfortunately didn't hold up very well under everyday wear. looked a year old after two months. i expect more out of any jacket over $40. ended up sending it back a bit disappointed.

Neutral Reviews:

pretty good jacket for cool days

Rating:***
I returned this jacket because it did not fit well. The neck funnel was way too wide, and it flared out at the hip. The sleeves were too long (I am 5'5") and it was not warm enough for what I needed. The color chinaberry and the fabric were nice, I just did not like the design and the fact that wind would go right through that jacket.
brenda shahinian at Altrec on 10/16/2009

Great for bike riding...

Rating:***
Does not seem like a "true" fleece. Having said that, this jacket is very flattering, but the wind does cut though it. So it is that bit extra warmth when you are out bike riding. You will not over heat...
ekdugger at Sierra Trading Post on 05/26/2009

Nice

Rating:***
I took care of the too long sleeves by shortening them, and will wear the jacket. Its attractive, but very heavy for the warmth it provides.
Mary at Sierra Trading Post on 10/13/2009

Nice fit, but too short.

Rating:***
It fits just average: chest feels small and the body length is too short. I would recommend it to a friend with a short waist.
