The Alpine Utility Short by Mountain Khaki are some of the beefiest shorts on the market. Made with an incredibly durable 10.4 cotton duck canvas, the Alpine Utility short is hard pressed to break down. They are also adorned with a highly used utility pocket, and a hidden pocket on the right side, so you can get storage without looking like a cargo short.
Abrasion resistant due to its double ply weave on the warp and weft. This allows MK to produce a lighter canvas without sacrificing durability, while maintaining comfort.

I'm a Mountain Khaki fan and these shorts are tough
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have a couple of pairs of Mountain Khaki's and so when I saw these, I wanted a pair. They're great. Tough triple stitching like MK's jeans and khaki pants. Comfortable and solid. I can understand the other comments about the back velcro sealed pockets - it feels like the velcro was an afterthought. The pockets themselves are a great size, but the velcro feels a bit of a cheap solution to keeping them closed.

After wearing MK Alpine Pants for a couple of seasons I decided to break down and buy some of the shorts. They have the same solid build as the Alpine pants and the same fit. The gusseted is nice for climbing and hiking. My only complaint is that the stash pocket on the side of the right thigh doesn't have a cover so my cell phone falls out regularly when I'm sitting down.

great, just what you'd expect if you've owned the long pants

I was nervous that the pockets would be too short, or the length too short, but it's great. It doesn't look like short shorts, and the pockets are plenty deep just like the long pants so your wallet and cell phone won't fall out in the movie theater. Great quality as usual from MK, no complaints. Note no cargo pockets.

| Ordered size 33 - shipping was fast and shorts arrived in new condition. Very heavy but soft material. Waist is true to size and rise is medium. Overall a pretty snug fit. If you are in between sizes, go higher. 4.5 out of 5. | |

These shorts are plain tough. They have plenty of pockets and won't wear out on the trail. My only dislike is that the velcro on the back pocket jabs my ass sometimes.
