Continuing to lend innovation to the field of lumbar packs, Mountainsmith has introduced the Tour (Recycled), an eco-friendly redesign of Mountainsmith's classic Tour lumbar pack. Loaded with the same great features found on the original Tour lumbar pack, the Tour (Recycled) utilizes a ground-breaking fabric made entirely of 100% recycled plastic beverage bottles. Despite weighing only 1 lb. 5 oz., the Tour (Recycled) has a full 488 cubic inches of carrying capacity. The waistbelt has a wide wrap-around style and incorporates the triangulated straps of Mountainsmith's patented Delta Compression System to shift weight into the lumbar region for a stable, evenly distributed load. Lined with an elastic mesh fabric, the foam-padded waistbelt provides more support than comparable lumbar packs and remains comfortable to wear even on hot days. Featuring three separate compartments and two additional storage pockets, the Tour (Recycled) offers organizational options. A zippered pocket on the inside of the main compartment provides a hideaway for keys, coins and other valuables. Adjustable mesh side pockets feature a bungee closure and can accommodate 32 oz. water bottles. A bungee attachment on the front of the Tour (Recycled) allows you to carry a jacket, sweatshirt or additional gear. With varied carrying options, the versatile Tour (Recycled) can also be used as a shoulder bag, a briefcase, or as an add-on pocket for a full-size backpack. Optional Mountainsmith Strapettes, sold separately, can be employed to serve as shoulder straps and provide extra support when heavy loads are being carried in the Tour (Recycled).
The durable Tour Pack from Mountainsmith gives you the same adventure-ready features found in the 1,150 cu. in. Day Pack, but with half the carrying capacity, making it ideal for summertime adventures that require nothing more than compressible rain gear and a lunch. Hydrophobic polyester padding along the removable shoulder strap and patented Omni Belt padding offer comfort standards that exceed most lumbar pack designs.
The dual side mesh pockets are sized to accommodate 32-oz. Nalgene bottles. That adds up to 64-oz. of liquid storage, more than some lumbar hydration pack systems.
The Tour's compact dimensions make it ideal for packing along on trips where trail runs and day hikes are part of your itinerary.

For hiking, urban touring or school, our lumbar packs are designed to stash all of the bare essentials you cant imagine leaving home without. Classic styles in Heritage Red, Cobalt and Black are now made from 100% Recycled PET fabric.

Almost perfect. | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is a big, comfortable pack, easily fits a jacket, lunch, water, camera, book, first aid/survival stuff and a few other small things. The waist belt is great and the adjustment straps are quite functional. I use it for everything from quick one hour trips to all day hikes, and I may even try to do an ultra-light overnighter with it this summer. Great, simple, functional design with one large exterior pocket and a medium internal pocket. The dual handles and shoulder strap make it a decent fill in for a brief case, carry-on bag, or 'murse.' The only drawback - when filled, it is a bit heavy on the hips and waist by the end of the day. Shoulder straps would likely solve this and make it the perfect bag - but neither REI not Mountainsmith has them currently available! Please make some more straps and sell them to me! Also - this isn't a complaint, just a warning - make sure you need a pack this big, it's not a typical waist pack, consider the smaller sizes if you're a light packer. | |

I love my Lumbar Pack | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Because of a Chronically Painful shoulder, I can't use a standard back pack, so this is the perfect substitute. I love to hike and can take my standard 40 oz of water in the two bottles I bought to go with this pack. It usually holds Jerky, spare batteries for my camera, medication, sunblock, my cell phone (Inside sealed plastic), keys, money and there is room for me to stuff inside a pullover sweat shirt or flip flops (for beach hiking at Pt Reyes or between SF and Pacifica)! Or, I can tie down a jacket or a pull over sweat shirt on the outside. I hook my Ipod to one of the straps and I'm good to go! For long hikes (20 some odd miles with little water), I tie my jacket to the outside and stuff a full Platypus 2+ inside, in addition to the 2 bottles on my right and left side. It's durable and I've taken a few falls and slid on my back and it's still in great shape! There's also additional straps and capacity, that I never have used!!!! | |

Best LTR I've had with a bag!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I absolutely love this bag. It is nearly indestructible! I have used and abused it since 2000 and it goes everywhere with me. I travel all over the world and use it as my camera/anything I might need for the next 24 hours bag. I like to use it as a weekend bag when I want to travel light (lucky I'm only 5'3"). Sure now that I bought that giant 70-200 2.8f Canon Lens, it is getting a bit crowded and fitting my 13" laptop or a few Frisbees has its challenges, but really this bag has a special place in my heart. Constructed well, double lining, water resistant still, extra thick zippers that can take a beating, and really handy organization, love the water side pouches for bottles or anything you want handy. I actually sling it across my back like a messenger bag most often. Great attention to detail. A high quality product. | |

The best day pack ever! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I bought this for a car camping trip and being a little bit high-maintenance, loved how much I could carry with me. Fully loaded, this pack sags but I've since bought the Strapettes and that solved the problem. The cinching straps on the bottom are perfect for holding a sweater or jacket and the side pockets fit my large water bottles and a camera in its case. Even fully loaded and wearing the added shoulder straps, this pack is comfy! The major selling point for me at first was that it was made from recycled materials but I've since fallen in love with its functionality. This is the best pack I've ever owned. | |

excellent; easy to use; comfortable

| The Mountainsmith Tour Fanny Pack, is indeed extremely easy to use, and also to readjust the straps while the pack is still on the individual's body while still walking or hiking. I have another fanny pack, which is nice, but this one is easier to use, and more comfortable to wear. I am very glad I chose to buy this product even though I already had another one, for the reasons stated above. I would recommend anyone who hikes or just wants to wear something weatherproof around town while doing errands, etc., to consider this pack; it is attractive enough to carry about town, in addition to using on the trails. | |

| I will be using this pack on my 3 day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer this year in Detroit. I have been training with it so far and I am so excited about using it in the walk. There is so much room that I know I will definately have enough room for that extra pair of socks, all the good stuff to make sure I can repair any blisters at any given time during that 60 miles and let's not forget the water.... Pack is very comfortable and can be adjusted at many different spots to ensure a proper and comfortable fit. | |

MUST HAVE! | |

| I have owned this pack since 2004 and it is still perfect. I have carried it to 4 continents in every environment (snow, desert, mountains, beach) and I have never had a problem. Anybody with significant outdoor experience will have a great appreciation for this pack. Definitely one of those things that you never knew you couldn't live without until you have it. The only con is that you have to cope with idiots who call it a fanny pack. Enjoy. you won't be sorry to own it. I have the red one and just bought a new black one. | |

"Great bag for every day use and more"

| After seeing a buddy of mine with this bag, and my unwaranted obsession with bags with attitude, I thought to myself in that voice of the lady from Napoleon Dynamite..."I Want That." So I got it. And let me tell you. This bag is great for carrying around books, camera's, extra sets of clothes...all in one. It fits comfortably on the shoulder and the waist belt is really handy when riding a bike or outrunning a cougar. Total props to Mountainsmith for making a bag that looks good, feels good and makes use of recycled products. | |

| I bought one of these recently to take on camping trips with my wife to use for day hikes. We really enjoyed using it. It has tons of space. Inside I carried food, a stove, and layers that we took off. Outside had plenty of room for two water bottles. The reason I gave four stars was that the bag kind of sagged with all of the weight on it, but I think I'll buy the shoulder straps and that should correct that problem. Overall Great Bag!!! | |

Great for Dayhikes | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I have been very satisfied with this pack. Great for day hikes. Big enough for a rain jacket, light fleece, lunch and 2 16oz water bottles. I really like keeping my back free and open in warm weather and carrying loads on my hips. Used this pack through mid fall. Good pockets. The shoulder strap is good for when the pack is really loaded or to take the load of the hips just for a change to shift the weight for a bit. | |

| "I work as a teacher by day and as a photographer on the side. I use the backpack to hold my extra lenses, batteries, extra disks, water bottles, etc. Although it is a little bulky for my purposes, I would rather wear this pack than carry my camera bag and a smaller fanny pack. It is extremely comfortable and I can hardly tell that I have it on when I am wearing it. This serves my purposes VERY well and I would recommend it for anyone. I plan on using it on hikes as well when the opportunity presents itself and it will hold all of my snacks and drinks" | |

| "Purchased primarily due to previously owning Mountainsmith Packs. Purchase was for relative who is an on the go teacher with an infant. The pack is attractive, well made, versitile, and a good value. The side hip carry position is a must. compartments and easy access bottle carriers are an exellent attraction. This pack can be used for everday work, mixed as a diaper bag, taken on the trail, and stowes well when boating and fishing. I think Ill get one for myself" | |

| "Bought this bag for a 400 mile bicycle trip thru Slovenia and it was perfect! Big enough to carry big camera, rain gear and hydration, but the ergonomics of the lumbar style keeps weight off your shoulders and your back wont sweat. Mountainsmith always makes quality at a reasonable price." | |

I returned it. | |

| I am a volunteer with an organization that rescues stranded marine mammals and I frequently encounter animals during recreational walking (with my dog) on the beach. I therefore carry lightweight binocs, a small digital camera, a stopwatch other items used to determine vital signs and injuries from a distance. I also carry a liter of water for my dog. This is not a heavy load. Perhaps it is my build, but the bag tends to slip down, even when the strap is pulled very taut. The constantly slipping bag can become very uncomfortable (and annoying). Furthermore, the plastic buckle broke when I was cinching the straps tightly around mt waist. I had owned the bag for less than a week! I therefore returned it rather than exchanging it for new bag. | |
