Hiking & Camping > Shelters & TentsRated: ***** by 2 reviews.

Mountain Gear

Combine the comfort and convenience of your family tent with the performance you need to withstand high-mountain storms with the Elbow Room 2 tent from MSR. Enhance your backwoods comfort with 40 sq ft of room with Bow Frame geometry and an additional 15 sq ft of vestibule space, but don't confuse this tent for a weekend warrior's car-camper; durable, waterproof construction withstands damp weather and a weight of 7 pounds is viable for the backcountry camper.

Features:

  • Come and go without creating a hassle with 2 stay-dry entrances - one full mesh, and one half mesh - that let you keep the doors open in storms so you don't have to wait them out in a muggy tent
  • Comfortably sleep 2 with room to spare thanks to the BowFrame pole geometry that creates a spacious interior, with the strength to withstand wind and snow loads
  • Keep your sleeping space for just that and nothing else with 1 large, pole-supported vestibule, and another smaller vestibule off the back
  • Reduce tent setup time with closed-end FastFeed pole sleeves that make staking your tent a quick-and-easy process
  • You get plenty of ventilation through the Crystal-Mesh ceiling panels that also give you stargazing opportunities when the fly is off

We've transformed familiar tent geometry with our Bow Frame to make the Elbow Room series our most livable freestanding shelters. While slightly less spacious than the hoop-style Mo Room tents, the ElbowRoom 2 and 3 tents are lighter. They're the best choice for those who desire the space but also tend to spend more time in the backcountry. Both feature dual entrances, big vestibules, excellent ventilation and ample room for gear storage and living.

"They say 3 season, they mean 3 season!"

Rating:*****
This is probably one of the most spacious 2 person 3 season tents I have ever used. The added support of the third support pole pulls the tent fabric out, and makes it very tight. The rain fly is top notch. The addition of vents near the mid center of the rain fly keep the moisture somewhat out of the tent, but it really depends on the climate, sometimes there is nothing you can do about that. When tightening the rain fly one of my friends actually snapped one of the prongs on the clip right off. My advice would be to pull down on the rain fly, so that there is slack on the line, and then eliminate the slack so all the pressure isn't on the clip. Overall though, AWESOME TENT!

Good little tent for spring weather

Rating:*****

This little tent definitely lived up to it's first test of the outdoors. I took it camping on the west coast of Vancouver Island and it withstood heavy rain, and 40-50km/hour winds just fine! Certainly not an all year expedition tent, but more than adequate for most camping trips.
