"Lightweight, tuff and fire engine red"

The grabber handle is nice for support while screwing the cap on or filtering but as someone else said, it does rotate. Makes final tightening a bit tricky. Luckily the cap seals quickly, not like previous eras of the Dromedary bags. Not crazy about the valve but I'm used to Nalgenes and Camelbaks and if you want you can swap them out. The MSR does flow fast and if you forget to turn it off you can really soak yourself by bumping it against something. Wish they had grommets on the bottom of the bag so I could hang it and use my spigot cap in camp, but hey they can't think of everything.

"Great in combination with MSR miniworks"

Martin at Moosejaw (Fall 2008) on 10/19/2008
Rated: *****
I bought this mainly to pair with the MSR miniworks filter, and it does not disappoint at all. MSR consistently makes absolutely bomber products, and this one is no different. If you have a smaller backpack (say 45-55 liters) definitely pick up the 2.5 liter, as the 2 and 3 liter bags are likely going to be too large to fit into your bag without completely removing your sleeping bag - which would make filtering a huge hassle on the trail. Overall, a rock solid product that pairs greatly with the MSR miniworks.

"If you tend to pop other bladders, or have to cut bite valves to get enough water flow this it pro"

Thomas at Moosejaw (Fall 2008) on 07/12/2008
Rated: *****
It may be more than the average backpacker needs. However, I just took it for a trial run during a week long training event. Fit perfectly in an army issued Duramax hydration pack. The opening for the fill mouth on the issued Camelback was too small, although I'm pretty sure someone could cut it to make the necessary room. It help up to any abuse I threw at it including me rolling around on it in my body armor. The bit valve will drown you if you let it, ensuring that you can down enough water to stay strong during the worst heat, or during the most physically demanding tasks. However because the bite valve is at a ninety degree angle you'll need to keep it secured to prevent it

"try something else"

Charles at Moosejaw (Fall 2008) on 07/02/2008

Love the capacity and light weight, hate the drip from where the black plastic of the mouthpiece plugs into the clear tubing. As I hiked, I had a steady drip, drip, drip onto my shirt from this. My camelbak omega reservoirs don't have this problem. I saw some earlier reviews mentioning the same problem, but all the other current reviews seem to love it, so maybe the problem has been fixed.

seems like good quality

"Nice bladder."

Good design and water flow is good. Seems to be pretty durable and fits my pack well.

"A must have"

This is a great product. I have two and will not be without one ever again.

"Durable bladder that does what it's told"

Jason at Moosejaw (Fall 2008) on 02/01/2008
Rated: ****
The bladder does what it is designed to do, no leaks, sufficient water flow, etc. It seems like the fabric will be more durable than the regular camelbag bladders. The only complaint I have is that the handle beneath the bladders screw on top rotates freely. You can't use it as something to hold on to while screwing the top on, and if you pick it up and carry it without turning the handle upwards it can rotate suddenly so you drop it. Not a big deal though.

"Did not work for me"

James at Moosejaw (Fall 2008) on 01/23/2008

This product has a design problem . . . at least, based on the way I used it on the AT. I fill my hydration bag by removing the bite valve, connecting the tube to my water filter, and backfilling. The tube, however, has a lining that detached from the tube itself under this abuse. When the lining detached, no water would flow to the bite valve. My only solution was to cut an inch or two off of the tube every couple of days to expose a new piece of tube with the lining still attacked. Sure, I could have filled through the treaded opening. But, I would still have to remove the bite valve in order to snake the tube back out of the hydration hole in my pack . . . or dangle the pack ove

"Good Stuff"

So far so good. Easy to fill, no leaks, and fast flow. I bought the 2.5L, but I would recommend going ahead and purchasing the 3L. It's not much bigger and allows you the option of carrying more water.
