The replacement MSR SweetWater Filter Cartridge for the Sweetwater Purifier System and the Sweetwater Microfilter meets the bacteria and protozoa portion of the USEPA's purifier standards, removing 99.9% of Cryptosporidium and Giardia and 99.9999% of bacteria.

The heart of the SweetWater microfilter is a replaceable 0.2-micron labyrinth depth filter with a Filter Replacement Safety Indicator imbedded inside the filter material. After repeated cleanings, this screen-like layer becomes visible so you know when it’s time to replace your filter cartridge. A layer of granular activated carbon surrounding the filter improves the taste of unsavory water.

Replace your original SweetWater® cartridge once the black safety indicator becomes visible or when pumping does not improve after cleaning.

Great service unit | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've had my Sweetwater pump for well over 20 years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Living and hiking in the cascade Mt., I've never had a problem with silt. The water is usually clear and flowing. I did freeze the first filter for over 4 years, and the freezer taste in the purified water was bad. A replacement filter was cost effective, and all was good | |

New filter fit my old SweetWater pump
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I was not sure if this new replacement filter would fit my old pump, circa mid 90's. Fit and function are perfect. The only change is the color. | |

Cracked filter expensive to replace
| Rating: | ![]() |
| The case and filter are is one unit making filter replacement expensive. The plastic case cracked after limited use. I am not aware of any hard impacts, which might cause such failure. The unit should be able to handle typical backpacking use and abuse. | |
