The New Balance HRT Max Heart Rate Monitor helps you achieve your fitness goals without making you wear an uncomfortable sternum strap. Just touch your finger tips to two sensors on the watch face and the HRT Max reads your heart rate with ECG accuracy. Like all New Balance heart rate monitors, the HRT Max calculates percent of max HR, average HR, max HR during the current workout, and counts calories burned, and it alerts you if you slip out of your desired heart rate zone. The HRT Max's built-in stopwatch, lap chronograph, and countdown timer add sports watch functionality.

Reviews:

Very Frustrating HRM

Rating:*
Rarely will it take a reading on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd try. Despite all the "troubleshooting" section in the owner's manual by the time you actually get it to work, your heart rate has dropped back to normal.

Hard Nut To Crack

Rating:*
I completely agree -- I have never received an accurate reading and its only functioning function is the time and alarm. So much for the experiment in non-sternum strap heart rate monitors...
