"We believe most consumers think "Made in USA" means that real manufacturing jobs were provided to U.S. workers in order to make that product. The shoes produced in our U.S. factories are made by U.S. workers using both U.S. and imported materials. Where the level of domestic value is at least 70%, we have labeled the shoe "Made in USA." Where it falls below that level, we have qualified it as containing both domestic and imported materials. This determination is based in part on a survey of consumers conducted by the FTC." --New Balance Inc.

New Balance 587 Reviews:

I love these shoes! I just bought another pair. I must have bought 7 or 8 pairs over the past 7 years. The only negative factor (besides their looks, which take some getting used to) is that they wear out fairly quickly and get dirty quickly, too. I wish they came in a dark color. But obviously those are not deal breakers for me, because of the shoes' superb comfort and stability. I turned my left ankle in 2002 while hiking, breaking it in 3 places. I was wearing very expensive Mephisto oxfords at the time. It was at that point that my physical therapist told me I needed shoes that provided more stability and prevented pronation. I already knew to buy shoes with extra padding for walking on hard surfaces. My local store here in Austin, Karavel Shoes, recommended New Balance 587 to me and I've been wearing them ever since. Their "roll bar" really helps my weak ankles keep me vertical, and I've worn them on at least 6 continents on various walking trips; they definitely provide the padding one needs while spending hours in museums or walking on stone pavements. I know they are supposed to be "running shoes", but I use them only for walking. I'm 72.

This style of NB was one of the recommendations I got from a Physical Therapist to help correct problems from overpronating. They are very comfortable with a roomy toe box & are available in wide. My one complaint would be the price. I feel penalized for having flat wide feet. I work 12hr shifts on concrete, so I need new shoes every 6 months or so, and that is just for work. Average price for shoes that fit, approaches extortion. NB is not by any means alone in this practice.

These shoes were the first pair of shoes I\'ve bought that actually fit my feet. They are a little pricey for a college student, but worth the comfort. I have stopped having back aches at the end of the day. The only problem I have is that they squeek when I walk. I have had them for over a month, and they still squeek. Other than that, it\'s a great shoe.

This is the second pair of these I have purchased. My feet are a mess, as a result of botched surgeries but these make me feel like I am walking normally. They fit just right and have superior arch support.

This is a good running shoe for my wide toe and narrow heel. It also provides good stability for my foot-rolling issues. I would buy it again.
