This stuff is great! Great way to bring back the waterproofing on your favorite waterproof breathable outerwear.

Good Stuff!! But try this..........

On a Mountain Hardware down vest, I found that the this product works most effectively if applied in 2 - 3 light coats and allowed to dry thoroughly between coats. Drying time is usually less than an hour if sprayed lightly and evenly and allowed to hang in a ventilated area with reasonably low humidity. (My den worked out fine, with coats applied between a couple of TV programs.) I'd be inclined to rate it higher than a 5, but I want to test the durability of the product.......if it continues to work as well as the immediate application over a period of time, I'll repost the review. As most of the stuff from BackCountry, this appears to be a quality product.

If you have any brand waterproof/breathable gear and it needs a "boost", this stuff is it. Actually, I think it's the only product on the market for restoration of W/B fabrics. I've used it on fabrics laminated or coated, and it restores water proofing to like-new status. Best application is at least two LIGHT coatings an hour or two apart. It's a simple cost-effective application for expensive over-priced W/B fabrics. Hey, there really is no such thing as waterproof-breathable. They just have a guvment standard to meet to qualify. When your guvment standard wears out, try this stuff. Saves you some bucks in the long run.

| TX Direct Spray by Nikwax really puts scotch gard to shame! It takes such a short amount of time... can even put the garment into the drier a few minutes after you have treated it! After it dries, you know it's there... you can feel a soft waxy coating on the fabric. This is great! I will continue to use it on our snow clothes! It repels water very well. It does wear off after a few washes, but it is well worth the price! (I am also now washing our outer garments with Nikwax's Tech Wash, so hopefully it won't wash off quite so fast!) | |

"Works nicely, smells nasty"

| A good product - My snowboard pants were taking on water in a pretty serious way before I treated them, now I come back from the slopes with a nice dry posterior! Of course the waterproofing isn't perfect, sit in water for long enough and it'll still seep through but the spray is good for giving old gear a new lease of life. Biggest downside is it smells awful when treating and the smell kinda lingers. Not a concern if it's snowboarding outerwear but it might get unpleasant if you're treating hiking gear. | |

| TX Direct is a great way to revamp your used and abused clothes. The spray-on treatment works well to treat the outside of the garment where precip does it's worst while allowing the inside of the garment to be treatment free so that moisture can still escape. MAKE SURE to clean your garment before treating it so that you are treating the fibers and not the dirt that is attached to the fibers. | |

"The best I've found since my usual product was taken off the market dure to environmental concerns."

| I found this product to be better than others. I tried Granger's two step wash, waterproofing and then drying to set the solution supposedly to make it waterproof. It did not work very well so I tried Nikwax which was recommended by Moosejaw's pleasant salesperson. Finally success, although the weather here in Chicago has not been inclement enough to really test it fully in the field. I'm sure that will change veryu soon. | |

Wash that coat! Dirt is your water proofer's worst enemy. Your outfit will last longer and perform better if you wash it often. Wash with Nik wax tech wash then follow up with this spray on. I have used this product many times with great results. I usually end up spraying and then rubbing the jacket to get an even covering, then throwing it in the dryer on a low heat.

"Over all a good product. Just shake it a LOT before using."

| The spray seems to have done a really good job at re-waterproofing my gore tex coats (used it on two). It dried quickly, and the instructions provided were easy to understand. The only issue was that it was difficult to get the spray started. The bottle needs to be shaken A LOT to get it moving. | |

Very happy with Nikwax TX-Direct Spray-On. I started noticing 'wet out' occurring on my favorite Columbia Titanium Shell after a quick application with the Nikwax Spray the rain, snow, mud beads up and rolls off, ready for many more adventures =) Also has worked well on my trail runners. Great product for a simple solution.

| Typically I used the wash in and decided to give this one a try because the equipment could use a refresh but not a wash. Don't waste your money, the wash in is 10x better | |
