Kinda tricky

I disagree with the previous poster that you can easily guess the combination. I don't think there's any difference in the resistance once you get to the right number. So it feels pretty secure to me.Setting the lock was difficult, and I definitely could not have done it without the help of posters on here. The Nishiki website doesn't have USA to choose for a country, and even when you select a country you can't find accessories, just the bikes. Once the lock is set, it's still difficult to get the key in and out. I found that pulling down on it helps to get it out.I think this lock is definitely worth the [$].

Quick Release Mount

After reading the previous posts it's obvious no one knows how to use the Quick Release Mount. It's quite simple really; after removing the two phillips head screws determine where you like to place the Quick Release Mount on your bike, mount it to the frame and secure it by replacing the phillips head screws. Now you can quickly attach or detach (depress the yellow button) your lock without needing to wrap it around your handle bar or some other inconvient area of your bike. Note: The Quick Release Mount is not used to secure your bike but simply holds the lock itself when not in use.

No Instructions!

I was shocked to find no instructions on this bike lock. Luckily, my husband was also a pro. While I was googling instructions and stumbled on this site... he had it already figured out. Set your numbers with the lock undone, stick it in, jumble the numbers, and go! To unlock, reset your 4-digit code. easy! Also, good price point on the lock. Better quality for locks with same price at

Great lock

This lock is great for locking my bike to a fence or bike rack. Many reviews stated that it was difficult to set a combination, however it took me literally 15 seconds to set the 4 digit code that I wanted. the only thing is, i don't know how to use the bike clamp that came with it...

thanks to others

Once I got to see the posting on how a husband figured it out, it was simple. However, I was not impressed with the lack of info on the packaging to figure out how to reset the lock. Yes, I am a rookie and that should be figured into the packaging.

Ever heard of instructions?.

Thanks to everyone who posted instructions for the lock. Amazing that none came with it!! Can't comment yet but it seems sturdy. Too bad that a good product creates so much needless frustration!

Alright

For a combo lock that you can set. It is not bad. It only took me about 10 minutes to figure it out.

Nishiki- Dick's proprietary brand?

I use this lock to secure my bicycle. So far I have no complaints.

Just pried it apart and...

I'm pretty sure there are two different locks using the same packaging. I've read and attempted the instructions on this post and others to no avail. Having tossed out the receipt some time ago, there was no chance I could return it. And since I was stuck with the factory combination, I wasnt about to keep it only to end up using it at some point just to realize later I forgot the combination it came with. So I took a screwdriver and pried it apart...the lock I have is not re-settable, period. I have a lock with a re settable combination I looked at for comparison, and its a whole different set of hardware.

Doesn't seem secure

Agree with others that the instructions are nonexistent - I had to call the store. But the worst part is I have to pull the lock bar part way out once I spin the digits past the unlock code. Am I doing something wrong or is this a malfunction? It still seems to lock but a good deal of the metal sticks out and looks (is?) very insecure. I've tried pushing in on the green parts and nothing helps. I wish I had returned this lock sooner - will probably go in the garbage if the store won't take it back now.

Nishiki hasn't a clue on sharing info!

I agree with the majority of posts on this lock.
There is absolutely no clue or even hint on how to use this lock. Its one thing to struggle in guessing how to use the combo, but even beyond that- you then need to figure out how to use the clip-on piece as well. Thanks to the folks who figured it out and shared! :)

Easy to break

I used this lock for about 6 weeks. Came outside of work late one evening, my bike was missing and the lock was on the ground, with the locking mechanism broken. Security footage has shown that the bike thieves just yanked on the lock twice and it failed.

So, now I am out a bike and now, I suppose, I know better.

here are the directions to set up lock

My husband figured it out. Setting all numbers to zero should allow to open the lock. Brass cylinder shows "set" and an arrow. Turn (in direction of the arrow) until you hear "click" set your combination choice and should open cylinder to the lock.

Isn't he brilliant!!
