Great for Tarps! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I use these to set up my tarps quickly and easily without using a single knot. I can get my ridge line very taught and my tarps very tight with little to no sagging. I like the fact that I can quickly readjust the tarp as well. I sleep in a hammock under my speer winter tarp and if the weather turns for the worst I like to be able to tighten up lights or quickly remove them and relocate them (like if I want to set my tarp up higher for shade or lower for rain protection). They're also very light and very strong (holds up to 50 pounds...plenty for my tarps). If it gets really windy out you might want to tie a slippery half hitch for peace of mind, but you can generally leave it be. | |

Very useful item | |

I purchased these to make attaching my tarps to the trees a little simpler. I used to have the ridge line attached to the tarp and used a truckers hitch or some other knot to tighten the lines up around a tree or pole. Now I reverse this. I use a bowline knot to quickly hitch to the tree and attach the Figure 9 biner to the tarp tie outs and then quickly tighten up and center up the tarp. Takes seconds to do and almost as quick to undo.

Tight Lines - No Knots | |

| If you don't know knots - this is for you! I can tie all kinds of knots - but these are so simple, and easily adjustable and so quick that I perfer to use them over knots. Carbiner end is perfect for tents, tarps, truck beds etc. The look on peoples faces when I secure a load in a white water raft, or string a tarp in record time is PRICELESS!!! | |

There is a reason the Nite Ize Figure 9 tightener won a Backpacker Magazine Editors' Choice award a few years back. They are very easy to use, very convenient, perfect for everything from camping to tying stuff down on a roof rack. Whether it is the Figure 9 biner or the rope tightener, they are definitely worth it. No more knots.

I run a hunting guide service out of Soccoro, NM and securing gear to the top of our range rovers during antelope hunts is a hassle. This little item made my life easier. No more loose tie downs on the roof racks. I would highly recommend this product.

| The key purpose of use this carabiner: to avoid any knots when you want to fix a rope around stone, tree, anything else. Easy to use, security fixing of the rope, and at the same time quick to release the rope. | |
