Ahhh-mazing!

Rating:*****
Having a black dog in the hot, hot heat of summer sometimes means getting our exercise during the day isn't a possibility. The same could be said for the long Portland winters when it's dark before I get off work, making it unsafe to wonder around at night.

This collar solves both problems!

I use it as a secondary collar when we do anything outdoors after dark. I bought it as a replacement for my carabiner-clip-blinky-light which got lost when the clip spring failed. The reason I chose the more expensive collar over a less expensive clip light was simple: when I go to the dog park at night there are usually ten plus dogs wearing the blinky lights in every color imaginable. The reason I want her to be visible is so I know where she is, not someone else's dog.

So far we are the only ones with a completely lighted collar, although that might not last long as everyone who has seen it instantly wants one. It was easy to size (be sure to read ALL the instructions, you have to remove the light membrane to cut it to size!) and has held up great in all weather, even the torrential Portland downpours. I change the battery every three months or so (it gets about an hours use three days per week) when I don't think it looks quite as bright. You could probably wait longer, but it is most impressive at it's brightest.

My dog is 45 lbs. and wears the 18"-26" size (otherwise known as a large).

Practical and funky

Rating:****
I bought the collars for my dogs so that we could be visible at night in the parking lot of my apt. complex. I put the collars on the dogs only when we go outside. They were really neat when I tested them. I have other LED/ reflective products from Nite-Ize, and they're awesome.

The only con is that it is impossible to properly shorten the length of the collar. Because the lighting apparatus is tube shaped, it will not slide through the plastic piece that allows you to adjust the fit. One of my dogs will just have to wear her collar slightly loose. I don't want to exchange it for a smaller size because it might be too snug, so I'll keep what I purchased.

a must have for camping and night walkin

Rating:*****
This collar is awsome, it is a really bright constant glow. My dogs wrestle with them on and they still work so i would say they are durable as well. These work really well for night walking or backpacking deep in the back country. TEh fastner is plastic so i dont use it as a main collar. I simply put it on with their main collars when it is dark and we are outside

if you have to shorten the colar alot you will have to cut the inside part that glows so you wont have as much of the collar glowing.

This is a great product. I use to tie glow sticks to the collars, this is the way to go.

4 Paws Up

My dog is 13 and getting senile. He has been wandering off on occasion and we can't spot him in the woods. We were really afraid that he might get hit by a car if he wandered off and didn't hear us calling him. Now, not only will he be visible to cars, he is easy to spot when he starts to sneak off into the woods. This thing is beyond cool, and unbelievably the local pet stores don't carry it. It's so much fun, we turn off the lights in the house turn on the collar and have him walk around flashing in the dark. It doesn't take much to entertain us.

Wonderful Collar

Rating:*****
We have had this collar on our Black Great Dane for over 2 years, it is his primary collar. It is used every night for 15-20 minutes or longer. I change the battery twice a year, you can tell when it has to be changed because the collar isn't as bright as it used to be. The LED light fades or doesn't shine as far along the collar as the batteries weaken just like a flashlight beam. Also if you use the flashing mode your batteries will last longer. We did not have a problem adjusting the collar smaller, just push the flexible tube through the buckle it will still light up.

I can keep track of my dog in the dark!

I bought this for my 106 lb. Shepherd mix, Fiona. She is quite large, but the collar is plenty big. I use it on our evening walks and when she goes out in the field (5 acres) to do "business." As long as the batteries are pretty fresh I can see her from quite a distance. I do not use this as her primary collar. I use it as a secondary collar to see her at night. And...it works great! I have recommended it to my brother for his chocolate lab who wanders in the woods at night to do his "business."

Great product

Rating:*****
My concern was for the safety of my black lab when we walk or jog at night. This is a GREAT product. I had a friend tell me they could see us from about 200 ft away.

I also have a blinking light attached to the leash for more visability.

I can also see her in the dark corners of the backyard so she can't freeze and pretend she's not there at night when I call her in. LOVE IT.

allows "off leash" deep woods camping

Rating:*****
I love this product. I took my 1 year old boxer girl to the san juan and sangre de cristo mountain ranges. We were able to camp deep in the wilderness without worrying at night. With the rugged light on a soft red light glows allowing the dog to wonder around camp without loosing sight of her. A must have!!

Some of the reviewers have mentioned that it is impossible to size. It is actually totally customizable. Check the Nite Ize website for sizing instructions: [...]

Does the job

Rating:***
I use this to take my German Shepherd on walks in the dusk/dawn/dark. It is pretty large, so works well as a 2nd collar; I actually quit using the fastener b/c it slips over her head quite easily. It has a solid red LED light or a blinking LED light. It is thick enough that you can see the red above her thick double-coat. Overall, this is one of the better lighted collars I have seen and definitely helps visibility. The clasp does work better than the clasp on other lighted collars I have tried. It is not quite as visible but MUCH more durable than blinking light collar attachment you may have seen advertised. This is not a collar for ID tags, so you still need a regular collar +/- walking harness for use.

I have had mine for less than a year, use it at most 1-2x/week for about 30 min each time. At first, the collar was lit up 100% but now the light seems to wane near the end further from the lighting source. I don't think it is because I need new batteries, b/c it still does shine. So the quality maybe could be better but few of these types of collars exist, so overall, this is the best I have found so far.
