Nite Ize S-Biner

The only thing I can say negatively about this item is that the clips open very easily, SO don't expect this thing to work as a key chain or else you will be like some of the others on here complaining about loosing keys. However, I'm not sure what kind of moron would opt for this as a key chain over let's say...a KEYCHAIN...but I actually think the easy leverage clipping on these are great for not having to fight with it when pulling it out for whatever millions of uses you will find for it. Here's just a few that I have found throughout my year of having one...

hanging dog in camp, hehe just kidding PITA...although I have used this many times to clip dog's leash to zip line in camp
hanging headlamp in tent
makeshift fishing string (the kind you put your keepers on, not fish with, lol!)

hanging hydration bladder in tent and various places
hanging bug light/candles in camp
hanging deer scent
the list goes on....
been gearing up for a trip thru the AT and this item caught my attention in Backpacker magazine gear reviews for 08 so I decided to get some. I plan on ordering at least one of each size cuz there are endless capabilities for these things anywhere, but especiially for all your outdoors needs. I have the #2, which is suggested for up to 10 lbs, but I have used it for more than that (not recommended for #2)and haven't noticed it give any at all. Great quality craftmanship and they woon't break your back if you're a gram/ounce counter. Like I say, the clips are not flimsy, but not stiff so if you're in need of a keychain...please, buy a key chain or get one of those heavey duty biners you see at the local auto zone, oreilleys or wal mart automotive dept....use THESE for what they're made for........

I have several of these 'biners and my favorite is the #2 (10 lb capacity). The #2 weighs 0.30 oz and I use it as a zipper pull, as a clip for hanging bear bags, to fasten a lamp to tent ceiling and more. The design and operation is so simple - and the function is so useful - that Backpacker magazine gave it an Editors' Choice Award when it came out in 2008.

I just recently bought these in multiple sizes primaraly to clip my work ID to a lanyard and jacket. These are great! they are more attractive than a biner, slimer and easier to access or remove. I use the mini on a zipper pull on my jacket which helps avoid a caribner hitting me in the face during high winds. The larger doubles as a key chain or ID lanyard. Strong and light, a cool item!!!

#3 I use it everyday as a key chain and love it. makes taking keys off easy clipping to pants or packs a breeze. BUT I have had a key or two fall off from now and then. For normal everyday use it's good and has tons of other uses. I have another one on order (to hit the $50 mark) but it's going to be put to good use

I got two #3's and they are about 2.5 inches in length and about 1 inch in width (which seemed a little big for keys, but not by much). It says says right on it that it can hold up to 25 pounds too. I plan on getting some of the other sizes very soon. Very sturdy and simple construction, they won't break very easily! Very Handy!

I use mine to clip on my Camelbak unbottle, but they are useful for any number of other things, like flashlights, climbing gear, shoes, and anything you want access to quickly outside of a pack. I must have 15 of these, clipped to almost all of my packs. They're available in plastic for lighter duty versions, and metal for heavier gear. Great idea, great execution.

If we ever get any snow in California I'll try these out. I'm planning to use them to clip my powder cords to my bindings. Its quicker and easier than tying and untying but I'm not sure whether they'll stay on. After burying a ski a few seasons ago I always use powder cords in deep snow.

These are handy little biners that work for a variety of uses. I always have a couple of these on my backpack and use them for just about everything. Fairly strong but certainly not for full body weight. I stopped using them for securing my dogs leash and went with a climbing carabiner.

These little gadgets are fantastic. I use them for all kinds of things. I use one to keep my keys connected to each other and a couple more on my pack to keep things connected to the outside. They are easy to use with one hand and keep things secure.
